Flare version 0.22.0 was released. This release fixes registration of Flare as a primary device, which is nevertheless still considered experimental. This release also adds a message info dialog, that can show you receipts, reactions, and edits to a message. You can get to it by clicking the (new) sending state indicators, reactions to a message, or the "Edited"-label. This was enabled by the new flare-backend library, that was introduced in the previous version.

Flare version 0.21.0 was released today. Besides fixing linking, this release contains a new backend-library for the Signal integration, flare-backend. This should make maintenance and developing new features for Flare a lot easier in the future. As an example, this release added support for group labels. I have written a short blog-post introducing flare-backend if you are interested in reading more about it.

It would be interesting to know what "cleared your chat notifications" exactly means with regards to the freeze of Flare, I have not yet heard of something like that before. Could you please check whether it is reproducible and report the issue on the Flare issue tracker if it is?

Railway version 2.9.0 was released. This release allows you to get notifications about the current status of the trip, including for example when you will need to transition to the next train, when a train is running late, or when a departure platform changes. Versions 2.2.3 and 2.3.0 of Pipeline was released. Pipeline now hides videos which require payment by default. If you are using an external video player, you can spawn it again by clicking the thumbnail of the video instead of going back to the feed and clicking the video again. Startup performance of Pipeline also has been significantly improved. Those releases also fix quite a few bugs. Pipeline versions 2.2.0 until 2.2.2 were recently released, reloading your feed seven times faster.

Pipeline now fetches your subscriptions from multiple Piped instances in parallel, bypassing rate limits and spreading load. It also automatically refreshes a list of currently working Piped instances on every startup, such that you don't have to manually search for working instances anymore. Overall, this lead to an improved loading time for my personal feed of a factor of about 7.

Flare version 0.16.0 was released. This release adds supports for stickers.

As the last post about Flare is already over a year old, there were 19 other releases in the meantime. None of them is specifically noteworthy (which is why they were not announced), but together they squash a lot of bugs making Flare overall more reliable and usable. If you already tried Flare once, but ditched it due to reliability issues, now is the best time to try again.

Pipeline version 2.0.0 is now out on Flathub and the AUR!

This release is a rewrite of basically the entire application in order to be easier to maintain, allow for more features (both in the future and in this version) and improve the user experience a lot. In particular, this release adds the ability to search for videos and channels and contains a built-in video player (Clapper: https://github.com/Rafostar/clapper).
