Where people see threats, I see opportunities: this should be the death knell for the likes of Meta, because /unless you know someone personally/ they&amp;#39;ll be more and more likely to be an AI. Which is a great and awesome outcome, I think 🙂 &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I was on the &amp;#34;cipherpunks&amp;#34; mailing list in the &amp;#39;90s. People discussed identity and &amp;#34;nyms&amp;#34; a lot. How did you know who someone was on the Internet? You didn&amp;#39;t. And to a large extent, it didn&amp;#39;t matter, you were interacting with a persona anyway. But, yeah, things are different now, I guess. You still don&amp;#39;t know who anyone is, but also now you don&amp;#39;t know /what/ someone is. I think it makes a difference. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Back to small, manageable, &amp;#34;Dunbar-sized&amp;#34; communities. I don&amp;#39;t see that as a bad thing.

      Well, today is the day. I&amp;#39;m finally &amp;#34;sorta happy enough to pull the trigger&amp;#34; on publishing the book I&amp;#39;ve been working on for a very long time. It&amp;#39;s a technical history book: by a techie, for techies (although I think that between all the code samples, there is plenty of meat for &amp;#34;tech-adjacent&amp;#34; and &amp;#34;tech-interested&amp;#34; people). It tells the story of the Lisp programming language, invented by a genius called John McCarthy in 1958 and today still going strong (to the extent that many people see it as the most powerful programming language in existence). &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;And this is a time for shameless self promotion, even if you don&amp;#39;t plan on buying the book, please repost :-). Even if they manage to pull the conversion off (they won&amp;#39;t), it is unlikely to perform well.
