I cleared Hollow Knight from my backlog and went through like a third of Silksong. I've been enjoying Alundra and others for the first time and found out I hated 4 games I never tried. I've only spent $25 on games this year. Thanks emulation!

I've decided to watch a movie every Friday to clear out my backlog. The first on the list will be Anastasia by Don Bluth.

I bought Airoheart bc its indie Link to the Past for the PS5 and so far, its been really, really good! So basically, its best to go in as blind as possible, but its like this:

So I finally beat Super Metroid, with a time of 9:25 and I collected 69%(giggity) of the items. Not the greatest score and Samus kept her armor on, but I had fun!

I'm critical of old games that don't hold up or could use modern hardware, but this game definitely holds up and while it could use modern tech and maybe some fresh paint, you could make this today and sell it. Its got this Dark Souls feel where you're in a ruined world, not sure of the past, starting weak and ending powerful. Play it

Remember, only play retro games that hold up. Super Mario World holds up, but most random platformers don't. Oblivion may or may not, but perhaps you'd prefer Skyrim. Also most of the games from the era of bad graphics improved immediately when they remade them on better hardware, or added QOL.

There are mountains of good content in its original form, but it exists for you to have fun with, you don't exist to have fun refusing modern stuff and subsist on a crappy platformed from 30 years ago

So I beat Soul Blazer for the first time since adolescence. Those who think the modern world churns out enough good stuff, I'm gleefully playing games old enough to have fertility issues. For those nostalgic dorks, retro games like this frequently have tech limits and poor graphics.

Soul Blazer has good characters and ideas, but never fleshes them out. It does however, have a really good Zelda gameplay loop, where every enemy defeated restores a portion of the map and NPC's. Very basic plot tho

Two months down into 2026. Still no new games bought. I've beaten 4 games so far, but two of those had been beaten before. I also permanently shelved 2 games after trying them for the first time and two others are on indefinite hiatus, especially Fatal Frame.

I'm finally trying Super Metroid and man, have I been missing out on a lot! Most good Retro games have usually received an improved sequel but so far this rather genuinely holds up

1. The fortune teller will tell you where to go on the map for 15 gilder (rupees). Do this the second you're not positive about where to go.

However, most of the game is linearly locked off with all the townspeople constantly telling you unsubtly where to go, so its not a big deal.

2. Avoid a walkthrough as best as you can, though some of the puzzles are so obtuse I don't blame you. Very satisfying without one though. It has some poor game design

When Link to the Past came out, some competent producers made games that were kinds knockoffs, but not lazy. Alundra was one of those - though all of them were an interesting concept.

It feels like Soul Blazer and the story is about death and perseverance, whole using cutesy characters and graphics. The fact that they can't always be direct about things mean the work a rounds are bone chilling. Just play it without spoilers, trust me

Are you just going to play about an hour or so and then not stream for a while? If so, you need a game that quickly gives some decent footage and payoff, even if you're interrupting it constantly with the chat. Hollow Knight: Silksong is good, but not retro. Clock Tower is good, but you might wanna quick start. Ape Escape of some flavour, preferably 2 or 3.

A longer experience is different, so let me know if you're going to be more regular
