Lots. The Old Hag has a lot of those in her "Mama Toñita's Home for the Lost Souls". Every time an old building is set to be demolished, she'll talk with the owners, and convince them to let her take it. No one dares to say no to her. And no one wonders how she moves, say, a 200 hundred years stone building from one place in the city to the other side in a blink. These things happen all the time. Lots of scenes happen in buildings like those…=)

The world's facing a heavy ice age, courtesy of the return of magic somewhere in the last century. This made some powers (the gods *AND* other entities, human and not) do things to warm up the planet, and now, heat is a problem everyone must endure. This is bankrupted more than one winter-only clothing business, forced people to use shorter, fresher, and looser clothing, and, still, winters are cold as hell…=-|

Their phones were easy to learn because those were designed to dumb down the experience, and now expect that from "big" computers. That's why I change the defaults when I can, because I know I am the one who will suffer if/when they mess up things…=)

Now, if they stop paying me to solve their problems, then may the force be with them…>=)

And most people use windows, so changing their OS to something with more logical storage systems is out of the question, sadly…=(

Problem here is that users would have to learn a new way to do things, and I've seen that most users don't want to learn the basics, much less a totally new way to manage their files. "This way works", they say, and not even when something happens and their files evaporate they want to do things better. If you can recover their data, they'll start doing things the same way again. I know because I do this sometimes…=)

Basic file management on a computer. I've seen many people (young and not so young) save *EVERYTHING* in one directory (I refuse to call them "folders") and later can't find anything. They should learn that basic skill in school, but no. No one teaches them that. I'd blame phones for this but this trend started in the Windows 95 days with the "My Documents" directory…=-|

I wanted to avoid paradoxes, time loops, etc., so I made actual time travel impossible. You can go to "timelines" that may look the same as yours but aren't, and you can never go back home. When you "return to your time", you go to another reality that looks more or less like yours should look with the changes you made, but you'll eventually realize it is *NOT* home…>=)

Loops and paradoxes exist, but at a *VERY* small scale…=)

I like DejaVu too, but I can't stand the dotted zeros. I'm a 100% slashed zero dude, and Input can be configured to use those, plus one-storied lowercase a and g, middle asterisk, and other niceties…=)

Once that font is on the system, I can happily write for hours. When the universe lets me…=)

Yep. You mess with fonts when you set up the editor, and that's it. All my text editors (in Win/Lin/Mac) are configured in either Input Mono or IBM Plex Mono, for legibility reasons. Once that's done, it's writing time. All the notes live in a physical notepad, along with the first draft…=)

The only other resource I find essential is a good keyboard. And for me, that is a blue switched mechanical one, so it sounds like a battlefield when I write…=)

Your computer's basic plain text editor. Most people will use more advanced tools, but the humble text editor is always there and, in an emergency, you can write there without worrying about formats, typefaces, etc…=)

That most essential public services, like electicity, running water, etc., are essentially free for everyone, and, believe it or not, those services are *EFFICIENT*. And there's little discrimination, so everyone, in theory, can be who they want to be and most people will ignore "the weirdos". Neat place, right? >=)

As I write in Spanish, the double meaning words/phrases some characters use to "attack" other characters will be lost in translation. All can be translated and anyone will get the "decent" meaning, but the "right" meaning will be lost in translation. "El Chico Medallas" become "Medals Boy", which means that, an awarded guy, but the sexual "invitation" is lost, for example…=)

They bring *LOTS* of things from other times. Most people ignore those things because they're supposed to use them in secret, and they won't, say, park the Enterprise in front of the Capitol in 1876. I seldom tell friends and family that I write. Most of them are allergic to reading, and very few would get the ideas behind my stories. And those who could get the theme, would discard it just because it comes from me. They can't believe I can do creative things. Lovely people, aren't they? =)

The very few that know about my ramblings mostly say not bad things, which is good…=)

Yep. I like to put characters' "thought" bubbles inside [ ], emulating the yellow boxes used in comic books. I use the # for text coming from computers that isn't a prompt, which I write as a simple >. My favorite way to emphasize things is *THIS*. And, of course, I use and overuse and abuse the em-dash and the ellipsis…=)

And commas. *LOTS* of commas…=D
