i used deepfilternet commercially (my audiobook recordings use it as a final pass over the mastering) but its computationally nontrivial (its a whole neural network based filter; you could probably finagle it on to vulkan) and people said its the cleanest signal they've ever heard.

rnnoise is relatively cheap (its just basic anti-noise + the tiniest AI filter) and everywhere. kind of embarassing at this point to not have noise reduction when you can literally just import it.

rnnoise has been around 5ever at this point. even mumble has it.

beads seems to have a whole ecosystem based around a very elegant design: json files for records, i guess piled in to one big json-l file, which is cached in sqlite. not bad. i would have done the same (well one js per record but still.)

now the dev replaced it with uh. a dolt server, and the json-l is some kind of import/export format but they then say its for migration now and not regular sync. so the tools still say they support 'beads' but they actually aren't now, and theres beads_rust which implements the old beads that everything uses.

something i've been noticing is the older nostr relays were very open (strfry.) then the engineering work was on scaling the synchronization of events.

the current generation (pyramid, chorus) are more "closed." chorus is based on an old mutual RSS or twtxt model of just dropping your messages in an outbox and waiting for someone to come get it. pyramid is based on friend-of-friend models like the old what.cd.

seems one cannot escape the march to closed societies.

i tend to leave the DPI settings very high out of necessity (not much space on lap desks) so that could be some of it? idk, only playing warframe did i have wrist issues.
