These two storages represent 7.5% of the total EU capacity, and they're the only ones storing so-called L-gas, a quality used by Dutch households.
This makes the Netherlands and the EU more vulnerable in the current gas supply crisis. Filling up for next winter will be difficult.

The two Dutch gas storages of NAM, operated by Gasterra (Shell/Exxon/Dutch government) are now completely empty: filling level 0.00%. The reason given is the winding down of Gasterra, which used to sell the Groningen gas. But one would say that a new operator could have bought the remaining gas.
