in the end it was a DP lane polarity issue: USB3 allows lane polarity swap for better PCB routing, but DP doesn't. tricky when you need to reuse the same lanes for both.

—the new toggle switch could really work for me because i often have to switch between dnd and normal mode, but on my fp5 android the button is often broken (doesn't react) in quick settings
—now that i have a lot of pictures on the phone, the camera sometimes doesn't save quickly enough so i lose photos or get motion blurry photos. also the camera often overexposes by default, which is supposedly better on the fp6

i'm not convinced by what i've experienced with matrix so far, so currently my top idea is a good XMPP server + customized web app + existing mobile clients + probably some bridges. i wonder how well these things work though:

- notifications for mobile
- history sync
- search
