There is some great SeedSigner (nprofile…38w4) work being done by KeithMukai (nprofile…pts5) and his AI minions. He did some ground breaking work which will enable seedsigner on many new cheaper hardware devices and I challenged him $150 (in sats) to make the work even better (upgrade to latest version of lvgl). I recently got a Insta360 camera. Since it’s like 360 degree view, in post production I then just sort of panned from extreme one side camera to extreme other side.

Super cool camera though. More videos coming soon.
I can mount the camera in one spot, do work all over the place and just center myself in post production. Makes my kind of videos more achievable without constantly messing with a camera

My guess is the short term volatility is more related to lots of bitcoin business running them for various reasons. TBH I don’t know why I business would run 100 of them or something, when I worked at a bitcoin infra company we had like 5-10 at most. My answer is: not sure but I don’t think there is a conspiracy of people pumping the node numbers up bc of the latest drama.

It could even be chain analysis trying to trace txn broadcast.

I added this line, to limit my data usage of my node to 10GB per day, to my bitcoin.conf.

The bitcoin blockchain is 828GB on my machine. That means with my current limit, it will take ~83 peers like me to do a full IBD. Your copy of the bitcoin blockchain is precious! You should back it up from time to time, so that if you nodes database gets corrupted, you don't have to download it all again from the public network.

If there are 100K connectable bitcoin full nodes, all with 10GB data cap, as a network we can only onboard 1207 new full nodes, per day. Thats a lot but also not that much.

Im sure there are a lot of people out there running with no limits on a large connections who are doing the bulk of the work bootstrapping new nodes, but it is interesting to think about it in the worst case.

I think it is a smart move to enable `maxuploadtarget` setting to whatever you think is best, as a general rule. Regardless if people are toying around or not, this is an adversarial network, and you should treat it as such. Don't give people permission to do what they please with your internet connection.

Migrated my site's email system from SendGrid to ProtonMail SMTP! It was really easy, but just one of those things that had to be done.

SendGrid got rid of its free tier, which is the main driver, but also when I originally set it up, I wanted to use ProtonMail, but they were only releasing this feature to beta testers at the time and they rejected my application, even though I only send like 10 emails a month.

It is a much better experience for me as well, since I can go to my email mailbox and see all of the automated emails, and the contents, that were sent. SendGrid only gave me metadata about the email.

New #induction sterilizer PCB coming together. About to do a big order of assembled PCBs from JLCPCB. First time getting my personal boards assembled.

If it all goes well it really is a game changer. The amount of time I will save on not having to solder is immense. The only problem is that the cost of 5 boards is basically the cost of 20 boards. That means the design has got to really work the first time!

I’ve thought for a long time there has got to be a better way to do mail. Like someone give me a secret one time code, and I just give that code and a box to the mail center and my package goes where it needs to go without me having to know/store my customers info.

Another thing though is Nostr dms aren’t very good, and usually I route people to signal.

It’s all doable it’s just interesting. Maybe by going back to the basics and reinventing the wheel a bit here we eventually stumble upon a UX which is better for everyone.

One final sort observation about Nostr based shopping. I wonder if others know good ideas.

A lot of you sellers are like “zap me and I’ll send you products”. Like it is never that simple. Even if you had a single product, your next questions are:
“where do I send this product?” “What name do I put on the package?”

It’s sorta awkward to ask a bitcoiner using a nym what their real name and address is.

And then the next piece of difficulty is normalizing addresses people give you. People always forget stuff in their address. The benefit of a real website with a form is you can validate this before the order is ever submitted.

Especially for non-US orders, I cannot just look at an address and be like, “yeah that definitely seems reasonable”. So typically I avoid non-US shipping, but sometimes it is worth it. Dealing with customs harmonization codes also makes me wanna scream, so that’s another reason.

Just food for thought. What are some of your internal procedures for handling ad-hoc orders on Nostr (or otherwise) which doesn’t require a lot of back and forth with the customer trying to get the basics down?

Read on to learn more about my thoughts about today…

Shipping physical stuff is kind of hard, especially when you only do it occasionally. I have to take time after a day like today and reflect and improve my processes.

I feel bad sometimes. At lot of you vendors here are posting about how high quality your products are. But for me, selling electronics in particular, it is really hard to get to the level you get even for like lower quality Chinese Amazon products. Maybe the product is junk, but it is packaged so much better than is possible in my home production mode.

All I can do it iterate though. Hopefully if I can get orders more consistently, I can build the processes.

Generally, the move is to have products in stock. I can’t be making stuff to-order.

Recently did a PR to a MCP server documenting how to use it with Goose and local LLMs.

Used phi-4 model. TBH the performance isn’t that great. Not sure if it’s the MCP tools which aren’t great or the models doesn’t know what to do.
