💯 this. My desk was way too tall for years. I finally bought a new desk, the smallest standing desk from Flexispot. At the lowest setting, the desk is the right height for me. That's absolutely ridiculous - I had to buy the smallest desk possible for it to fit me, and I am of an average height for a woman in Germany. I don't know who needs to hear this, but apparently your hand is supposed to be floating when using a computer mouse, also a vertical one. Don't put your hand on the desk. Move your whole arm, not just the wrist. I learned this a month ago, at age 31, and this one simple adjustment made my hand pain go away.

I have another detail for you - text selection. Selecting text and click side-effects usually conflict. Selecting text with a mouse consists of "mouse down, drag, mouse up" events. After "mouse up", a click event triggers. If you're trying to select text on something that has behavior on click, you will trigger that behavior even if you didn't want to.

For this reason, by default, buttons have text selection disabled (user-select: none). But being able to select text is important.

From the top of my head, there are 2 big practical problems with this code:

1. With VoiceOver on Safari, it is not possible to reach the link in any way. The usual shortcut that allows you to navigate "into" an element doesn't work on buttons. The "links" rotor also does not detect that link.
2. Event bubbling. A click event on the anchor triggers a click event on the button.

Negatives: I failed to be able to do a single full unassisted pull up this year, I can do like 80% of one. I blame the machine I train on because it doesn't have a full ROM. It ends with my forehead at the bar level, not my chin... I should switch to assisting with bands.

Positives: I'm happy with my quad and lat gains. My lats definitely grew because for the first time in my life, I had to buy a new coat because it was too tights on my back, not stomach 😊. It took me a lot of effort to progress from 110kg to 120kg on the leg press. Unfortunately +10 is the smallest weight increase on my machine, and being able to bring the weight in motion with 120kg was a challenge.

Extra context: those are only the exercises that I've been consistently doing and also tracking for the whole year. I switched my main chest exercise midyear and started tracking a few more exercises, incl. abs. I do an upper/lower split. I do progression by increasing the number of reps until I hit 12 reps, then I lower the reps and increase the weight.

That's my husband's opinion too. My opinion is: dev dependencies are dependencies that you don't need for any of your Node.js scripts that run with NODE_ENV=production. Which would qualify your build tools as regular dependencies, not dev deps. I chose this definition because it allows you to leverage the dependency split to limit how many dependencies get installed on the system where you create the production build.

The majority party in the Bundestag chooses the chancellor internally. I totally agree that the "reading time" value produced by those widget is totally arbitrary, and you couldn't have an accurate value anyway because reading speed is too personal.

I still like them and have one on my blog because I think it's useful for setting expectations. Is this blog post an in-depth article, or is this a quickly scribbled note? I usually struggle to convey this via the blog post title. I count on people interpreting "5 min read" as "short", and not literally.

I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure you need to have a German medical license to give out prescriptions that can be fulfilled in a German pharmacy and notes excusing from work they can be used with a German employer. A medical service that can't do those two things wouldn't be very useful.

I freaking love TeleClinic so much. It has changed having a cold from a huge stress situation to a small nuisance.

When I have a cold, I no longer have to get up very early, visit 3 different doctor's before I find one that will accept me on a specific day, and then stand in line with 20 other people with infectious diseases, which is counter-productive for my recovery.

I can just sleep in, then sit on the sofa with a blanket waiting for a video call. And it also works on Sundays!

2) boss was slow approving education budget usage

I've been working as a dev on employment contracts for small companies for 8 years and I was always the only one who wrote any blog posts. I would guess that literally 99% of professional web developers do not publish any content online. At least nothing long form, maybe they post forum messages and SO answers.
