Pedantic Service Announcement (time edition):

When specifying time in the USA, “EST” stands for “Eastern Standard Time”, which is only really relevant for less than half of the year. During daylight saving time it’s “EDT” for “Eastern Daylight Time”.

When you’re not sure if the time you’re specifying is EST or EDT, just say “ET” or “Eastern Time”, which is a generic way to refer to the time zone, regardless of daylight saving status.

Same goes for Pacific / PST / PDT / PT etc.

I had to do a double-take on that top photo because it looks incredibly similar to the house where I grew up on Cape Cod, built in 1786. The barn out back was used as my dad’s workshop for building/repairing wooden boats.

I’m a big fan of The Markup (npub1svp…js2d)’s Blacklight tool for checking the user-tracking tech on any website. Seeing all the trackers used on the sites you use and love the most can be a sobering experience.

One under-appreciated use of the tool is for checking your own website for trackers you might not even know exist in your code. It helped me uncover and remove some unwanted Google tracking code hidden in a JavaScript file for an old project recently.
