But what's really cool is that when you have subtitle disabled and go back with the arrow keys it shows the subtitle for a few seconds. That is genius: most of the time I go back because I did not understand what was said. This solves a problem I did not even knew I had and I love that feature. Sure we as delta chat devs have the ability to write such an article, but that would not feel right with me, as delta chat devs are not neutral about their own app (they have conflict of interest). That's also the main reason why I haven't contributed to that effort over the years, it feels wrong to write/edit "your own" wikipedia page yourself.

why be so discouraged? Just keep working on Vidzy and make it better than loops, competition is a good thing. Daniel Supernault (npub1xsv…q6he) is not some god, he just made better decisions in some areas (mainly in marketing and design). Think about what you can do to improve.

A possible future could be that Loops brings people in contact with the fediverse, but those people then switch to Vidzy IF it is better at that point. I believe that Vidzy could be a lot better than it currently is. Don't give up!

Potentially there is still space to save, because this account was created before deduplication was introduced and we haven't enabled this feature for old files yet.

unless you are using your own fork of delta chat you don't need to host your own relay server, you just need to modify your email server to send the pings over our push relay, which has the secret keys that apple needs, to accept the push notifications for the app id of the delta chat that is published to the appstore.

Ideally we would have an easy plugin or a spec on how to integrate push into existing email servers, but for now you'd have to read the chatmail sourcecode.

wouldn't that then mean that the history server side would be not completely secure so that you can perform a "password reset" / "restore account" service?

Or is the problem regular backups and it would be less of a problem on a server that keeps the messages so importing an old backup would redownload all messages.

and when that folder exists it looks for ~/.config/DeltaChat/accounts/accounts.toml

in your case it found sth, so it started migration from an older format, is there sth in the accounts_old folder?

great that this works, though Liaizon Wakest (npub1xse…lgk3) opened an issue on the desktop repo with your report and I would like to help getting it solved/closed.

Could you try to download and run https://github.com/chatmail/core/releases/download/v1.156.2/deltachat-rpc-server-x86_64-linux ? that't the dc core binary that desktop failed to load/find in your screenshot.

If it doesn't work it would be interesting to know any clues to why and wether the newest core from https://github.com/chatmail/core/releases still has the problem.

I doubt that big numbers are a good argument for a privacy centric messengers that is not about big communities nor social media but about communication with your close social circle.
Like delta chat has no global discovery and no moderation features so far.

I plan to rewrite the code for the composer/message input in a few months after I'm done with the deltachat tauri project.
