I considered that tbh … almost mentioned it in my post! But the whole enterprise was bad and evil. I worry “honoring the confederate dead” is part of what muddled the original meaning of the day & contributed to the success of Lost Cause propaganda. Maybe it’s ok to grieve their suffering but not “honor” them at least.

It’s hard to separate the signifiers when our overlords are forcing it down everyone’s gullets, even though it’s clearly not the panacea miracle tech many of those same overlords seem to (or need to) believe it is.
I agree it has the same utility potential you mention!
It just feels like the bigger cultural weaponization of it (against workers, collective political power, minorities, and the entire economy) overwhelms the supposed benefits. (1/2)

Like… I feel like my words, as imperfect and unpolished as they may be, are such an extension of my body & identity … why would I want something without a body or identity to muddle my relationship with my own words?

I have seen such conflicting information about the water / energy impacts. Some people I follow who seem to share my politics etc have mentioned in posts that the water fears are overblown/fake… but the propaganda is so thick everywhere around this stuff.

I feel this too - the whole project feels tainted (cursed?) to my nervous system … it’s prevented me from really learning enough about it to have an informed perspective in my work life. (Like, ok even if it was created with giant moral issues, how is it actually useful and not bad for people in how we apply it to things)
