I'll be presenting "Sovereign Money" at the IV Encontro Nacional GNPA in Ovar, Portugal on May 1st. It's a 3-day preparedness and self-sufficiency gathering with talks on radio communications, off-grid energy, water purification, emergency shelters, and more.

If you're a Bitcoiner in Portugal, this is one of the most aligned non-Bitcoin communities you'll find; sovereignty, self-sufficiency, interest in technology, and healthy skepticism towards centralized systems.

Last year brito (nprofile…9cna) who is building Geogram on Nostr invited me to present at a similar event and it was one of the most receptive audiences I've had outside of Bitcoin. This time I'm going deeper into the fiat problem, sound money, and Bitcoin as an exit.

The more I hear about the majority of changes that were made to Bitcoin since 2009, the culture shift, the fiat incentives, the quantum and miner revenue 'concerns,' and other changes that seem to me to favour specific groups rather than the entire network's monetary definition, decentralisation, and security, the more this post comes to mind:

What if the best thing to do to Bitcoin is just nothing?

We are for sure, talking the same thing, most definitely. I ended up using the term 'human being' and the words in that order as upside down in the fiat world we live in. The fiat world us upside down and the kind of human the fiat world encourages us to be is so upside down.

The emphasis should be on "being" human and so 'being' should come first - "being" human. But the fiat world doesnt want us to emphasise this. The fiat world doesnt want us being it. So became the term so widely knows as 'human being'. The fiat world undermines "being" part of 'being human' therefore 'human being' is the preferred term, 'being' is less important, so comes second. You replaced the word "being" with "doing" which I really liked too, so human doing instead of human being. That was nice. But I couldnt really incorporate "doing" into my thought when I was thinking about how the fiat world has turned our society so upside down. And it seemed to fit and it felt like the term human being has become upside down too. So when i was thinking about it, the fiat world has literally convinved us of reality being so upside down. The term 'human being' is therefore also upside down, so I prefer the words being switched the the right way round, - "being" human.

Hopefully you get what i mean... if not then im in a world if my own as usual. 😇

You talk about first principles alot. I agree with this approach and I try to apply this to my every day life. I am surprised by some of the revelations, many things we do, and take for granted and dont really question, Ive come to realise are not required, and unfortunately are a hinderance to our life. This applies everything from health, to the people we are around, and the things we have become dependent on.

In terms of health, an example could be, when I stopped putting any products on my skin, the improvement to my skin health and overall health has been significant. Less is more. Or I prefer to say do "nothing".

Its funny but practicing "nothing" has enabled me to become more human. We are constantly told to do this or that, behave a certain way, society pushes us to do things that dont always feel natural and the end result often make us less human. To make us look a certain way, or be a certain way, to fit in. In the end, we end up being detatched from experiencing the actual human experience. And we end up expereincing something else entirely which dont always create the best results, not always pleasant, and dont always make us feel great either.

As with money, where we are trying to opt out of fiat, to stop fueling a system which is so destructive, and into bitcoin which creates much more positive incentive structure, there are so many other facets non money related which we can also opt out of which we think is essential but when we disect with a first principled approach, we discover that we are better off doing "nothing".

"Nothing" is a very difficult approach. When we are faced with a problem, so often we think we have to solve it, we have to be the hero, we need to use our intellect, creating a solution. But often our actions are directly causing the problem and many more problems. Our attempt at solving an issue causes a bigger problem. And then we get stuck in a cycle of problem solving, to fix something that causes another problem and so on.

What makes things even more confusing is when we fix a problem, we feel relieved and happy, becayse the initial problem has been resolved, only for the problem to reform and change into something that isnt always apparent in its connection.

I think this is where some of the phrases come from "less is more", "simplest solution is the key". Etc. These phrases are true because they are closer to doing "nothing".

Its funny but the phrase, "I tried everything but nothing works" the emphasis should be on "nothing". Its like we know the answers, we tell ourselves, we are so close, and then we throw ourselves onto a tangent and then we end up not knowing.

Problem with "nothing" is it doesnt really contribute to the economy, doesnt make money, its hard to sell, hard to market, doesnt do much for our ego, but I tell you Daniella there is some serious truth to it. I live by it and always consider it as my number one strategy when faced with a problem. Most problems are solved by this. When I am unablr to literally do "nothing" then I think, how can I do the next best thing as close to nothing as possible.

If a solution is very convulted and complex, then I try to avoid it at all costs. I usually find a much simpler work around. And it works out better in the long term.

It sounds like you've also been doing this bridge work and holding that space. Thank you too 🙏🏼 I've also experienced the resistance in this space first hand, I get it, there is a lot of noise that feels at odds with values and Bitcoin lands as more noise. Something has shifted in how I'm approaching my YouTube channel and I'd like to share what I'm doing.

I wrote Beyond Money for the person who has done years of personal development work and still can't figure out why the material picture won't shift; they haven't been shown the systemic layer.

My next videos won't mention Bitcoin in the titles, but I'm building toward it. The goal is to meet that audience where they are (Law of Attraction, manifestation ceilings, 3D/4D/5D...) and build the framework slowly so that when the missing piece arrives, it lands as a logical conclusion rather than a surprise.

Correct me if I misunderstood; you see "human being" (what I called "human doing") as a fiat construct vs "being human" as our natural state (what I called "human being"). I think we are saying something similar just using different words to describe the ideas though I understand your point of the fiat perception of "human being" as a hindrance to realizing our natural state is "being human" from within that construct. Yes, we were all indoctrinated into a system that made us forfeit our natural state for a fabricated, artificial, fiat-based reality. Though still (un)learning, what a gift to see it for what it is now! I am curious; how do you conceptualize the idea of "being human" beyond the fiat construct? What does that world look like to you?

At the end, this past year of doing in-person Bitcoin education wore me down; patiently playing ping-pong with people's pushback on logical first principles and Bitcoin got to me. Now I know it was a gift. Not only did it teach me what people are worried about, and that I clearly needed to disengage (lol), it also helped me see patterns; their complaints were always the same - systems, people, groups, us...

It contains a broad summary of my book, but this video specifically is even more heavily based on Jeff Booth's work; clearly there is no way it would exist without it. So many channels on YouTube that came out of nowhere in the last year or so and out the gate have tens of thousands of views.

Knowing the median view per video is 35 and that it takes years to establish a channel because 95% do not get pushed by the algo makes me think something is up - either these are complete outliers making insanely good content or they are serving the algo's agenda.

I felt less affected by the bot situation since my main medium is long form video, but this is tied to the exact same issue Jeff described in his article; our attention is being farmed on all platforms through all content types and its getting harder and harder to tell what is genuine or real, and that's the point.

Excellent ⚡️ I didn't have to switch over from Core so I don't have direct experience and I am not 100% sure, but given what I've seen in my setup, once your Knots is synced up you should have it as an option for Lightning. I say this because when I select to install other Lightning apps it only shows Knots as a dependency (not Core). I would strongly recommend making a backup of everything before moving over either way, just in case 🙏🏼

I'm working on a video and in-person presentation about #Nostr for non-Bitcoiners. Been digging into the numbers ( let me know if you spot any errors) and it's pretty fascinating to see:

#YouTube Creator:
- 30% cut to YouTube
- 20–30% Income tax

Leaves about $25 for every $50 earned.
If you save that $25, after 8 years at 10% inflation YoY, it would be worth about $12 in today’s purchasing power.

#v4v Model:
- No middlemen
- 20–30% Income tax
- No capital gains taxes if you don’t convert to fiat (most places)
- +45% CAGR if you hold it long term

If held for 8 years, $25 of sats would be worth ~$553 at a 45% CAGR. Considering 10% inflation YoY it could buy $258 of goods in today’s purchasing power in 8 years.

It’s clear v4v isn't sustainable short-term without savings or another form of income, but it operates on a completely different timeline. YouTube ads and other mainstream monetization models are firmly rooted in the fiat world while v4v is about manifesting the reality in which we wish to live; a higher timeline ⚡️✨

Great questions ⚡️ No matter what the answers are, I love that "we the nodes" truly are empowered to make a conscious choice and that our actions will have an impact. I believe too many of us know that Bitcoin is far more than a "blockchain relaying data" or "1s and 0s." I'm not willing to give up the chance to finally end the repeating karmic cycle suppressing the potential of 7.5 billion people. I can't wait to experience a world where we can explore what it means to be human beyond all these constructs imposed "by fiat" - in a way, many Bitcoiners already are. Been thinking about the Core/#Knots debate.

Going back to first principles and Satoshi's Bitcoin Whitepaper:

- First Principle 1: Bitcoin is a monetary network
"peer-to-peer electronic cash"

- First Principle 2: "Honest" nodes secure the network
"The system is secure as long as honest nodes collectively control more CPU power than any cooperating group of attacker nodes."

- First Principle 3: Nodes keep the network decentralized
"peer-to-peer"

- First Principle 4: Bitcoin must remain decentralized and secure to function as a monetary network

Bitcoin, as it was originally intended ("peer-to-peer electronic cash"), dissolves the false illusion of fiat by imposing Universal Laws in service to humanity and thus transforms the world.

Bitcoin Core v30 Related to:
- First Principle 1: Violates Bitcoin as a monetary network by welcoming larger non-monetary data on to the blockchain

- First Principle 2: Compromises Bitcoin's security when nodes become public data storage forced to hold and relay illegal content uploaded to the blockchain by bad actors

- First Principle 3: Compromises decentralization when it becomes too expensive, too complex, or illegal for regular individuals to run a node because the blockchain is bloated with non-monetary / illegal data

- First Principle 4: Bitcoin is no longer a decentralized or secure monetary network if the previous first principles are violated

Bitcoin, as storage for .jpegs and other non-monetary content, becomes a shitcoin.

Core is not Bitcoin; we are Bitcoin.

There is a thin line between "Bitcoin will be fine" and "we need to act to keep Bitcoin fine." The simple solution is to vote with your node 🧡

On a positive note:

- This debate is strengthening Bitcoin as a monetary network; it is getting more plebs involved, running and actively managing their nodes.

- It has made the issue of centralized mining more visible to the community and invited more plebs to run solominers.

- It has also provided excellent signal! I'm grateful to be connecting with a lot more nodes who deeply care about this protocol for humanity and know what Bitcoin entails far beyond "1s and 0s"⚡️✨

I guess once you go down the freedom tech rabbit hole there is no going back lol It just takes some time to switch over but I'm really enjoying the process. Didn't know about the BIOS vulnerability or Libreboot, I will look into it though since I also got an old T480 :D These machines are so amazing and cheap right now. I'd like to upgrade it, install Linux, and test running a local LLM for fun. Ah congrats for moving to Graphene! I switched over last November, no regrets at all 🙏🏼 I've had no issues with it and really appreciate that it has so many useful features. Feel free if you have questions ✨

It can be difficult sometimes to sit with loved ones who tell me they are suffering due to fiat pressures, their health, or other fiat-related problems.

While they are ready to openly share their struggles, they naturally seek answers from 'experts' trained by the very system designed to keep them trapped. I get why, a few years ago, I did the same.

They tell me they are "too tired" or "don't have time" to find root causes or learn about their problems on a deeper level; which I completely understand—the system is designed that way.

While my mind consciously knows everyone has their unique path on their own timeline, and that you cannot 'force others to awaken,' my heart heart still struggles sometimes with what feels like 'leaving them behind.'

I keep getting reminded that I just need to be a supporting presence in their lives; that letting go is an act of love. So my reminder to self is to trust that everything unfolds on its own time, to enjoy what I have found through Bitcoin, and to be the change.
