this was me a few years ago. i got that big chunky heavy mountain bike because the salesman talked me into it... then never could be arsed to actually get it out of the shed or garage at the time to use it. with this new bike i got myself last month, it's much much lighter and nimbler...and with the fact that i recently cleared up our double garage in our "new" house now, i removed all friction ... just on a whim can just grab the bike and go. next up: back pannier rack and a bag for it

incidentally, some people laughed when i told them i wanted to replace my big chunky heavy "too much bike" MTB with a super simple, light, single speed city bike ... but for this kind of riding, it was actually just perfect. don't plan to "take it off any sweet jumps" or anything, just to ride mostly flat paths, with the occasional incline here and there... and for that, i don't need 21 shimano gears or mega suspensions

managed to ignore my self-conscious feelings of looking like an idiot with my giant bike helmet yesterday and finally went for a proper little ride - did a fraction of the #preston guild wheel path. now going to slowly ramp up to eventually managing to do the whole circuit. considering i'm woefully out of shape and not properly ridden a bike in ages, this was a great personal achievement #cycling #bike #biking
