Cheers, just wanted to ask about the database in particular. Could in theory probably run a second container running mitra under a subdomain and reuse the existing Postgresql used for Misskey to retain account information and post history.

and I are libertarian for the most part. Love our civil liberties, hate censorship and encroachment. We still federate with nicecrew.digital and poa.st, so anyone can still seek out those demographics if they prefer the vibe of our instance.

Just that we expect our users to make the effort to be civil and behave while here for the sake of cultivating a welcoming and friendly environment.

We aren't averse to having people use slurs or expletives on here either, or else it would have been included in the rules as being banned outright. The advisory exists as a provision to prevent the instance from becoming too toxic and skewing the culture in a particular direction. Likewise, our position on anti-censorship ensures that it doesn't go in the opposite direction becoming no different from Mastodon or Reddit.

It is a good compromise for appealing to as many demographics as possible.

Part of our mission statement for the instance is to allow our users to exercise the full range of their speech and expression with the stipulation that expletives aren't made common place. This is strike a balance between our autonomy and anti-censorship while keeping a good rapport with other instances and their operators.

I'm empathetic to your circumstances however as I have found myself in the same position on numerous occasions. Provided the frequent use of slurs isn't a deal breaker for you, you are more than welcome stick around with us on the instance.

Can't speak for MacOS, but there's no built-in PDF viewer for Windows, hence the market getting cornered by Adobe. Weird proprietary formats haven't been an issue for me as most FOSS software can handle them.

That right there grapples with some uncomfortable truths. Inclusion today is no longer as it was in the early days of the Free and Open Source movement. Instead comes with a lot of asterisks and caveats attached that aren't very inclusive despite otherwise appearing to be on the surface.

Truth of the matter is that the current political climate has over time radicalized and eroded the patience we once had for each other. Leaving many to land on the conclusion that it may honestly be for the best to drop any pretenses of inclusion and equity in favor of tighter in groups that share more in common with you and thus less likely to challenge your beliefs.
