USA... land of the free until you need any type of medical care!

My husband was having ADHD like symptoms so we decided to get him evaluated. Our primary care physician (PCP) couldn't do it, but did say with an assessment and recommendation by a psychiatrist she could prescribe the medication. She referred him to some psychiatrists who were 3 hours away and booked until May 2024.

We contacted the insurance to look for other options and they found us some remote options. He talked with the first doctor who said he doesn't have ADHD, but ADHD-like symptoms from traumatic brain injury (he was in sports when he was younger and had multiple concussions). The only known course of treatment for traumatic brain injury with these symptoms is Adderall. But... this psychiatrist isn't allowed to recommend treatment in Florida for some reason, so he was evaluated by a second psychiatrist. Same diagnosis and they could make the recommendations, so we took the assessment and recommendation paperwork back to the PCP.

PCP said within the last month the clinic has changed its policies and no one could prescribe the Adderall because it is a mental health drug and they don't prescribe mental health drugs anymore (that's funny... they just renewed my Lexapro...). So now I'm calling around to see if there are any PCPs in the area willing to take the assessment and fill this prescription and haven't had luck yet.

WTF, folks.... this is a 42 year old man with a diagnosed brain injury and the doctors are like "Whoa...Adderall is the treatment? Nooooope." Like... what is he supposed to do? Keep suffering?

I asked if there was any other medication to try since it's obviously an issue and multiple doctors told us no, this is the only labeled medication for his condition. So...we have a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and everyone agrees this is the only treatment... but prescribing it crosses some kind of line? And he can't get into a local psychiatrist until May?

So much for the Hippocratic Oath. Do no harm... unless you could judged by insurance companies then fuck those patients.

I have one of the easiest Thanksgivings to prep. Everyone I cook for likes Stovetop Stuffing, instant potatoes, frozen dinner rolls, store-bought pies, salad, and some sort of roast veggies with the turkey.

I just need to brine and roast the turkey. Everything else takes like an hour to make.

I've done the whole make everything from scratch and people enjoyed it, but not more than the easy stuff...so easy it is.

You love ramen and want an easy marinated egg recipe? I got you! I have made these multiple times and they are amazing!

Ingredients:
-6 room temperature eggs (or run them under the facet until they are room temp like I do)
- 1 tbsp of vinegar

Marinade:
- 1/2 cup of water or veggie stock
- 5 tbps of soy sauce
- 4 tbps of Mirin
- 2 tsp of dark soy sauce (this is optional, but gives fantastic color)

Instructions:

Combine all marinade ingredients in a quart sized Ziploc bag and set aside.

Boil water and add vinegar. For that jammy yoke, we want soft boiled eggs. Gently lower eggs into water and cook for 6 minutes (add another 6 minutes if you want solid yokes). Remove to ice bath. Let sit in the ice bath until cool.

Carefully peel the eggs and put in the marinade. Get as much air as you can out of the Ziploc and close it up. Put it in the fridge.

Let it sit for at least 1 hour, but honestly overnight give the best flavor.

Adding a marinated egg, some sliced shitake mushrooms, and some seaweed (cut up some nori) takes store bought ramen to the next level for just a few extra dollars.
