Cory Doctorow is obviously well-and-widely known. For those who don’t know Charlie Angus, he was an NDP Member of Parliament federally here in Canada for over 20 years, until he decided to “retire” and not to run again in last year's federal election.

In a much earlier life, he was a member of L’etranger. Andrew Cash was in that band as well, and later became an NDP Member of Parliament. I can’t think of another music trio that had *two* of its members later serve as elected progressive politicians!

FWIW, the only clarifications I’d suggest would be these:

1. Cut a head of green cabbage into quarters. Then cut out the solid core from each. In the photo in my earlier post you can see two quarters in the metal bowl and two that have been thinly sliced already.

2. Weigh the cabbage. If you have a decent kitchen scale, that should be fairly easy. (And it’s easier to start with one cabbage head than to start with a particular weight of cabbage!)

3. Measure out salt to be 2% of the weight of the cabbage. If you don’t have a scale that’s precise enough for that, you can use a rough conversion. I’ll add a link to the end of this post.

4. I always end up needing to add brine, as pounding the cabbage has never lead to enough liquid to cover the cabbage for me. To make brine, add salt equal to 2% of the weight of the water. You’ll figure out how much water you need.

But I do believe that the chief mobster is the problem, not the individuals who didn't vote for him, and not the individuals who were manipulated into thinking that a vote for him was in their own best interests.

It’s striking that with stupid announcements from the Ford government about a tunnel under Hwy 401 and attacks on cycling lanes in Toronto and across Ontario, there’s even less attention now on corrupt land developer deals and the looming privatization of healthcare in Ontario.

To be clear, I’m someone who will push back hard on the cycling lane fiasco, but that doesn’t mean I’m unaware of the intention behind these policy distractions: changing the channel on corruption discussions.

First time making hot sauce, using a recipe my nephew sent me. First 4 are canned, last one isn’t as we’ll use it right away. Used 8 habaneros and 4 small sweet red peppers from our garden. Added fresh Ontario strawberries as well. Plus some onion and garlic.
