It is clear they have a consistent success with obviously false numbers. It worries me so many Canadians cannot look at their own situation and see how it proves their study #misinformation / #disinformation / #propaganda.

If something is wildly inaccurate for you, it is probably inaccurate for everyone.

As I recall it, at that time the Canadian pollster trade group expelled Angus Reid for cause; basically determining outcomes before conducting the survey. And my recollection was the pollsters as a block got everything wrong, with one or two switching in the last weeks.

That would suggest 35 justices, as the upper end of the spectrum.

What is rarely appreciated is most cases reaching the Supreme Court are business cases. This is why caseload is more related to GDP than it is to population. The USA is currently the largest economy in the world by capitalization. Its court system is also the largest by volume.

It has the smallest ratio of justices.

Logically, it should have the same ratio, possibly a higher ratio as the complexity of its precedence is likely comparatively higher.

In 1807 Thomas Jefferson tied the number of justices to the number of Circuit Courts, then 7. The circuit court responsibilities are now largely in the US courts of appeal, of which there are 13, with two of them (D.C. and Federal) being notably larger.

The reason for #4 is the ratified treaties. The Constitution lists them as 'Law of the Land'.

As a sailor who has floated most of the oceans at one point or another… I do not see any part of the west coast of Canada as safe for shipping at the Panamax size or higher, including Vancouver and Seattle. The waters are narrow, high latitude tides & currents, topography mountainous with an 8-month rainy season complicating the water flows. Heavy commercial and private traffic from small to large vessels, barge and log booms throughout.

In practice, unaligned voters tend to swing the results. It shouldn't be this way. The voting system is the well-known and -documented issue. And the dominant parties both prevent it being improved with evidence-based changes.
