They go to Friends of the Library book sales, schools that ask for books, the free used book and magazine table at a con for books of that genre, or other ways that ensure that they are used by real people who want them. And once in a while a younger person discovers a genre, subgenre, or author, and I can then unload 10-20 books at a time, with instructions to pass them on in the same way.

Some of the elves are more annoying than others - but then, some of every group in those books are more annoying than others, and most of the characters are a little annoying at times. What annoyed me the most in my first re-read as an adult (I first read it in 1964 as a fifth grader) was how awful most of the poetry was.

JoAnn's closing virtually all stores by April will be a problem for sewists. The other 2 big craft chains don't stock much fabric; local quilt shops generally don't stock knits, rayon, denim, gauze and other clothes-making staples. And as far as I know, JoAnn's is THE major outlet for the big pattern companies - I suspect this will be close to a death blow for Simplicity/McCalls/Butterick/Vogue. So now would be a good time for #sewists to stock up on copies of your staple #SewingPatterns.

When I moved to Texas in the 80s, I wondered who Frontage was (pronounced in French in my head, frawntahzh') that so may roads were names after him, judging by highway exits. Took me months to realize that Frontage Road was what I knew as a service road.
