The owner was there and couldn&#39;t get his dog off Pearl. <br/><br/>I was bitten. So was Pearl. Emergency surgery for her that night. After hours clinic for me - thank you Canberra walk-in clinics. <br/><br/>On Tuesday I was advised Pearl would probably need more surgery which she did on Thursday in emergency at her own vet. Poor darling girl just cried and cried when I got her home late that night. But some drugs and sleeping with me finally settled her. <br/><br/>My hand is fine - still a bit gross but ok. Pearl is pretty good tonight - still on the good drugs though. A six inch wound in her neck. If not for her ruff ( she&#39;s a Lassie collie) I doubt she&#39;d be with us. <br/><br/>Reported to animal services. The owner of the dog (he had 3 off leash at the time) lives in this complex. Waiting now to hear the outcome of their &#39;investigation&#39;. What&#39;s the bet there&#39;s no action. <br/><br/>Tough week! Lots of tears. He is in a nursing home, has dementia and has no recollection of my brother or me. He was a cyclist, riding at least an hour a day up until he was 89. So while he is quite frail, he is sure on his feet. He is deaf too - tinnitus from aeroplane noise. He was a pilot.<br/><br/>I took some early photos of him and mum up. He was interested in the photos but I don&#39;t think he saw himself or mum in them, just some nice people to look at. <br/><br/>Some little people from the local crèche came to the dementia unit for a visit. Dad waved to them and might almost have smiled. The children were told that dad used to be a pilot and I showed them a photo of dad and the aeroplane on one of his first flights as FO on a TAA Friendship. They were so interested and immediately linked the very old man with the very young pilot. <br/><br/>He does spend most of the day asleep and won&#39;t eat meals, but loves protein shakes, so is doing quite well on them. <br/><br/>I haven&#39;t been up for over 12 months. I just did straight diagonal lines but there’s double batting under the body and the purple/yellow colour spots on the wings so it’s a bit more 3D. It was sewn by the convict women on the ship Rajah on their journey to Australia in 1841.
