Ahh I see what you are saying as well. The two bags represent there being only two primes. That is the key idea. Its just that adding two bags of cookies would add them and not multiply which is what caused my confusion.

Rather than the two primes being two bags perhaps one prime needs to represent the number of bags and one prime represents the number of cookies in each bag.

It was clear there was amazing synergy with bitchat here. You could create a website offline with no connection and then send it through the mesh and people would be able to load it fully offline.
You could print out QR codes for events, or fundraisers, or blog posts. Scan them. Load the site. And share the link through bitchat all with no connection.

As a demo of this potential I forked bitchat android to add native support for rendering nowhere links.
You can see in the clip how it detects the link, and then lets you open the site all within the app.

I attempted to add signer support but it was quite inconsistent however I now think that might have been more to do with the fact that I was testing from an iphone which does not seem to play nice with signers.

Big update for HAMSTR — Reticulum mesh networking is now live on the master branch.

What this means is now NOSTR notes & Lightning zaps(cashu coming soon) can now travel over LoRa radio using the Reticulum Network Stack.

Why Reticulum over LoRa changes things:

LoRa operates on unlicensed ISM bands (915MHz in the US). Anyone can run a node. RNode hardware is cheap — under $30 for a LilyGO or RAK device. Reticulum handles routing, encryption, and authentication automatically. No callsigns required. No license required to participate.

A HAMSTR server running Reticulum becomes a mesh-connected NOSTR gateway. Clients within LoRa range — potentially miles — can post notes, fetch feeds, and send Lightning zaps with zero internet infrastructure.

This is the censorship-resistant communication stack we've been building toward. Off-grid, encrypted, decentralized, and now within reach.

Running VARA HF and AX.25 Packet Radio backends continue to work alongside it and is preferred for existing radio usage and superior range.

Yes this can already be done if the person on the receiving end has a copy of the nowhere site renderer.

All of the data the renderer needs to recreate the site is contained in the URL (except for image data as images just a link). So if you have any communication method that will allow you to transmit the link then it will work.

The catch is to turn that link into a viewable website you need to have a copy of the nowhere renderer. You could have this by visiting the site once and saving as a PWA or by hosting the site locally.

Another option would be bundling the renderer directly into whatever app you were using to recieve the messages. I have a demo of this on github where I forked bitchat and bundled in the nowhere renderer. That way someone can send you a link over bluetooth mesh and you can open and view the site even with no network connection.

The other catch is that the site types that require communication must have access to the internet to function. The event, fundraiser, message, drop and art site types will work fully offline however the store, petition and forum need access to the internet and nostr relays to fetch and broadcast events.

I love thinking about what artwork and events could do in an internet shutdown. How just QR codes or links created offline and shared over bitchat could do.

QR codes can fit a bit more than that.
I have been able to scan max size QR codes from an iPhone 12 and google pixel 6 camera.

As for how much data that translates to it varies a lot based on what the data, how repetitive it is and how well it compresses. For most of the sites you can make what feels like a full site page that does not leave you feeling too terribly restricted. The use case is a simple way to create websites that fall into one of the defined site types.

Say you want to create an event page it is very simple to follow the builder and to create a link for an event that you can share. The link contains all the data for the event and your actual event data is never sent to a server. This makes creating the event private and also means the link can’t be removed.

There are 8 different site types that you can follow the online builder to make and try out. 5 of the sites are contained fully in the link and 3 use nostr for communication. The one that relies on nostr the most is the forum which lets you create a private forum that you can share with friends.

The forum identity is derived from the URL which is different if a signature is added to it.

With sites that are encrypted it is the decrypted fragment that decides the identity so adding encryption won't change that.

I could change this now but it would break signed forums as it would now show the posts of the unsigned forum.

I think the current way makes sense but it does mean you can't "upgrade" and unsigned to a signed and keep the history... Hmmm

At that point you might as well just have a nostr feed of your long form posts. I am not sure what is being gained.

I was looking into nsites earlier today and it does seem like a good match.

My idea was to 3d print a mini jukebox or music player and have a raspberry pi with a scanner in it.

Then you could insert 3d printed cartridges. On one side you can have printed the album artwork and on the other you have a QR code. Slot it in and the music starts playing.

It would be possible to use a link shortening service but then you are essentially trusting them to “host” the site. They are the ones that hold the data and your short link just requests it from them. And at that point if you are trusting a host you might as well use a traditional platform with more convenience.

Glad you are excited to try the store however for product such as this, the store has no way of automatically marking the item out of stock if someone does purchase. And given this is a unique one of a kind item you must be aware of this.

You have enabled inventory management which was the correct choice, however the inventory management event has not been published yet and you will need to do so at hostednowhere.com/manage/store.

Although I am happy to see people wanting to try this out, I would highly recommend sellers start with items of far lesser value to prove out the system first. The seller should only ever share the link once they have gone through the full checkout process themselves to test they are comfortable with the system.

Please also be aware that once a store is created and the link is shared it can never be removed. But if you enable inventory management as you have done then the store can be marked as closed to prevent any future orders once the painting has sold.

I was working on Zap Alerts (a lightning enabled stream donation overlay) and building the donation page that streamers could share with their non Nostr viewers.

The way I built the donation page was to create it dynamically. The streamer would create a link that contained their stream details, lightning address, fiat currency of choice and suggested donation amounts and then share that with the viewers. When the viewers clicked the link it would pull all the right data from the url to build the donation page.

Once this was done I was looking at it and the realisation hit me. I had just built a storefront that was not hosted anywhere. Yes there was only one “item” in the store (a donation to the streamer) but the concept was there.

I started building out the store but immediately realised there was no reason to limit to a store. There were so many potential sites that could be created this way. All the data needed to render it in the link, hosted nowhere.

But stores are in beta. Once created links and stores can never be removed. And if you did not specify inventory management when you created the store you will never be able to close a store or change an item to be out of stock.

And stores rely on relays for order communication which may be unreliable.
