Forgot to take a photo before slapping the bottom back on it, but I successfully repaired the hinge of my second-hand Thinkpad T14s by moving all of the components from an old lower body to a replacement!

I had a hastily constructed antenna mast on my garage roof come down during the big wind storm in November, and I'm trying to actually design the replacement following some actual engineering guidance.

The recommended design windspeed (in TIA-222, which comes from ASCE-7) is 85mph for all of Washington. Has me wondering though how outdated it is, and if I should design for higher speeds.

No seriouslly though. A few of us are playing around with packet radio BBSes over HF radio, bouncing 300 baud AX.25 packets across the ionosphere. We're using it to send each other muffin recipes and travel advice.

One of us is sending messages about what birds they heard in their yard as it happens, tied to a ML model that identifies birdcalls. I'm trying to spin that up myself.

Yes, but Winlink needs more memes though. I was doing #FediFridayWinlinkNet, which was fun with social questions. But it seems like a fair number of winlink nets are about exercising for emcomm.

A Winlink meme net would be pretty great.

Okay, I hate folks dumping old but not retro computer hardware at hamfests too, but here's a Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 2010-era microatx motherboard with an early Intel i7, 8 gb RAM PCI Express x16, 7 SATA. Worked well with Windows 10, last used a year ago.

But also! Two regular old PCI slots, one floppy and one IDE port, and a IEEE1384/FireWire port. Perfect for that old lab hardware you can't quite part with.

Includes GPU, as the processor does not have integrated graphics.

Some older radio stuff. HTX202 - with third party AA battery ...

Someone suggested we should have a #FediHamFest with recorded talks about things we do in #HamRadio. I think that's a great idea but more immediately, I'm cleaning some stuff out of my shack.

So this is part of what brought the question up for me - I wanted to make sure more of my gear had appropriate fuses on it, so I got the MFJ version of a powerpole fuse strip, which has an attached 6ft cable terminated in ring connectors.

I wouldn't recommend this strip by the way, seems solid enough but clearly not as well made as a rigrunner (which appear to be out of stock everywhere), and not any cheaper.

If you are adding Anderson PowerPoles* to a device with an attached cord, which end do you put them closer to?

I am thinking both for wall warts / power supplies as well as things that consume power, although your answer might vary. Feel free to expand your response in the comments, I want your thoughts!
