For those who know the ins and outs of #openstreetmap - how diffcult is it to help make bus routes and time tables available in OSM? Is there some way to help out?

The busses from my city are not available right now, and it's pretty much the only reason I still have to use commercial map software.

in Denmark, at least, this is partially a privately paid insurance called 'dagpenge' where you are a member of an 'a-kasse' in order to be eligible. But since we're all unionized most people are members by default.

I think, in general, spell checkers should just piss off. Like, I sometimes make a mistake, big deal. Does not at all justify the constant hazzle and stress from:

* Correctly spelled words marked as false due to an app spontaneously resetting the language to US English or just not recognizing the word
* Danish words flagged as wrong because.... well, see above
* Squiggly lines when mixing languages - French, Danish, Quechua, you name it

And don't get me started on auto-correct, especially when using an OS or app which likes to enable spell checks every time it updates. I am looking at you, MS Teams.

I am spending my time on #Reticulum building content pages, probably as the only person. But I just feel like writing and building stuff again and in a place where it's not just scraped by big tech and presented to people as their own work.

it makes a lot of sense from a practical perspective, and modern people often forget that marriage was a lot more like a business contract than a union of love in those days. A farm did not function well without a husbonde or a bondekone, and so when your partner died you quickly remarried for practical reasons. Obviously it would be nice if you liked the person too, though.

Another reason - and I am struggling with how to process and come to terms with this - is that I've started to work with AI in my day job.

Things are moving incredibly fast in software development with agentic AI, and while I have severe reservations about the long term sustainability and ethics of LLM-use, the feeling of being left behind and being seen as "always against" didn't do much good for my mental well being. And, you know, I like to be able to pay my bills.

As one of my colleagues say, the branch we're sitting on is going to be cut - it's a little better to be in control of the saw, so you can brace for the impact and try to stick the landing.

As I said, I am struggling with how to process it, but going to work feels less stressful now.

I think, to begin with, I need to get a T114 and flash the RNode software to it and see how far that takes me.

It's also, for me, a matter of trying to get an overview of the ecosystem and all the moving parts - that's how I learn stuff.

And then, in the end, I'd like to be able to write an absolute beginners guide to getting started with it. Both to spread knowledge but also to verify that I understand everything.

I've been trying to wrap my head around a new thing the past couple of days, new to me, that is. It's a meshable independent and decentralized network architecture called #Reticulum.

I'm not a networking guy, nor am I a software developer, so I am a little out of my depth, but it seems like a really interesting idea for resistance infrastructure. I just need to figure out how to properly connect my local network to the wider world, preferably over #meshtastic or LoRa.

Even as a collector, I agree with this. It was noticable to see how many Syrian coins flooded the market after the civil war started.

I very rarely buy coins anymore, and when I do they are common Roman coins. I wish I could be sure they're from old collections, but the reality is that many auction houses won't disclose when they are - not sure why - and that if someone is dodgy and want to sell looted coins they're just going to make up a provenance anyway.

I was just thinking about this, but aren't all autobiographies also autofiction? Who can claim that their perspective is the OBJECTIVE experience, we all editorialize our own narrative and experience to ourselves and I am sure it's even more pronounced in writing.

So really, aren't all autobiographies autofiction? The different is perhaps the perspective of the narrator-voice.

My first autobiography was Rousseau's 'Confessions' which I liked but which devolved into petty squabbling towards the end. I appreciated his radical honesty, though, and the philosophical ideas behind the project.

My second autobiography was Knausgård's 'My Struggle' - pretty much the same story.

I've also read 'The Book of Margery Kempe' which is an autobiography from a very religious woman written in the 1430s. She's clearly a nutjob, but I find it fascinating as an account of a middle-class woman, almost all other autobiographies of women are by nuns or nobles.

I'm only now realizing that you wrote 'autofiction' and not 'autobiographies', which makes this comment sort of pointless. Oh well...
