Please help:<br/><br/>Open source mining is kind of an oxymoron in a way. The best thing would be an open source Asic, but I think it probably can&#39;t ever really happen both because of the costs involved and the fact that it would instantly be outdated and lose effectiveness/profitability by others improving on it. <br/>It&#39;s an engineering challenge that is very tightly bounded. You&#39;ve only got the laws of physics and the limits of manufacturing capability to constrain you, and that is roughly the same for everyone who has the money to access semiconductor manufacturing at all. <br/>There&#39;s not a better solution known than custom silicon. You can pack in more and more parallel units, or try to increase efficiency electrically or mathematically but those things are tightly constrained by physics and/or manufacturing capability too. <br/>When a better computer is created it will either break Bitcoin entirely or it will make the first people to apply it to crypto wealthy.
