Bookmarks section in Nostria is primarily for events and addressable events, but the NIPs also support adding "r" for external resources, which Nostria supports. It's different structures and the "web bookmarks" within Bookmarks is just the URL, not extra metadata, while the new Web Bookmarks (called Social Bookmarks in Nostria) has title and descriptions.

Sorry for the confusion there, maybe I'll have to remove the capability to add web bookmarks in "Bookmarks", since Amethyst and likely other Nostr clients doesn't implement this support.

Amethyst had an old implementation of bookmarks in previous version, latest is updated to work similar to Nostria.

I see latest Amethyst has both Bookmarks and Web Bookmarks, Web Bookmarks is likely the NIP-B0? Nostria does not implement this.

"Websites" in bookmarks on Nostria is "r" tags, part of NIP-24. I just made an edit of the primary bookmark list in Amethyst, and it did not affect the "r" tags, didn't remove them. Though adding a website to a bookmark list in Nostria, won't appear in Amethyst at all, since it's a different "thing".

Did an improvement with live refresh of bookmarks in Nostria, so when you remove or add any bookmarks in another client, it will instantly reflect that if you have the bookmarks open. Released in the web app, will be included in next native release that comes tomorrow.

AI within #Nostria is still a work in progress, but added some new models and capabilities. Fixed an issue with WebGPU on the desktop app so it works well on Windows. Linux and macOS probably needs more work, don't have machine to test that right now. WebGPU can be disabled in the AI setting so it falls back to WASM, which is slower, but workable.

The delete itself in Sunami and Nostria is basically the same, has to either be that the delete not being sent to all relays that the music was on, or perhaps some relays have issues with "k" tag on delete events? Sunami (nprofile…pz5f) doesn't set "k" tag, but the NIP-09 says it "SHOULD" do so, but I highly doubt that is the reason.

Also if you delete a music track, for any existing user that have the music cached, they must open each track individually and then it will disappear from their album.

I'll implement some logic in the future sometime where it will go through all cached music and attempt to retrieve any delete events that exists for them and remove from cache.

There is still a a couple tracks that does not disappear fully Henrik, they appear in both Sunami and Nostria, I will send the IDs to you in a DM so you can delete those too.

If some of your delete tracks still is listed in Nostria on your device, just open their details page, wait a few seconds while it gets the delete event and this should appear, and it will be gone. Understand this is frustrating and slow process to clean up locally, will get better in the future.

There has been a lot of large lay-offs in the IT-industry recently and I believe more will come. The market for individuals looking for jobs will get harder and more difficult. I'm currently looking for a job and I was almost scammed just like the guy explains in this video (in comment). The scammers is extremely elaborate, creating realistic looking social media accounts, with AI-generated content combined with real content. Their websites and descriptions is perfect, no flaws like the silly spam e-mails we're used to getting. They combine real profiles with fake content, tricking people who are getting more and more desperate for opportunities.

Spent last year building an amazing social network app, nostria (nprofile…m0xe), that I'd love to turn into a SaaS for enterprise/business. Next version adds a feature rich AI chat with local and cloud inference. Though I can't do this alone anymore, so I'm looking for potential partners. If anyone is interested, reach out to me.

Doubt that will happen, so I'm still looking for new job opportunities (remote), focused on product manager, development lead, developer experience - I have very extensive experience on AI/LLM that I can bring into your organization, combined with wide industry experience and developer competency.

When posting creates kind 1 posts with a few non-standard tags such as "c" (which is supposed to be git commit id), "type" and "poll_results"

Is Communities (it's like Reddit) not a better option, which is a standard NIP and it can be supported by multiple clients?

Some clients has also started doing a new community type that is simply based upon a tag, while normal communities allow moderation and relay selection. Nostria will probably add support for that as well soon, so you can just choose "Moderated" or not.

I don't think the "substrs" are published as Nostr events, so would need to create the "substrs" list using queries for events where people have posted in them, not very optimal.

Though it's an important balance, without enough features it's just useless. Most other Nostr clients doesn't render proper content in DMs, they just support very basic text chats. Users expect better, nobody will migrate from Instagram chat if they can't share photos and videos in chats. One of many examples.

I am still churning and burning, focusing on optimizations and user experience is my number one priority at the moment.

When you zap, your Nostr client tells the Lightning provider where to send the receipts. If this is not done properly, the zap status won't show properly in clients.

In one week from today, nostria (nprofile…m0xe) is one year old. I have almost 8000 contributions to GitHub, majority of those is on #Nostria.

Since 2020, I have made more than 1000 open-source contributions a year. I got into open-source in 2012. Last year was obviously boosted by the ability to use AI, which is incredible.

Though AI is not healthy to use. It's an addiction, you get a productivity boost that is just too much. I probably should be spending more time posting on social media as oppose to building Nostria, to get more adoption and exposure. Up late every night to add yet another feature, is not sustainable.

The rat-race is real, spending extremely late nights churning and building is not healthy in the long run. Especially when all of this effort goes towards value for others, with little value in return. I do appreciate and love every sats I've received, though much more has been given away than ever received. ❤️

Before Nostria, I built Ariton - Community Super App, months of hard effort that was dead when jack (nprofile…3r3l)'s Block shut down TBD.

I had to pivot, started building some small apps, then went back to my Blockcore Notes - a Nostr client I built way back in the day. Not maintained over the years, so decided to build a new one, and then Nostria was born.

I had a hope that people would be willing to pay for premium app and services, and maybe they are, but I'm delusional to think I can be successful by simply building something great without proper marketing resources.

No other Nostr client comes close to Nostria in rich features and capabilities, that doesn't help when nobody knows about it. There are so many minute details that you don't notice, which makes it delightful to use. People who start using it, love it, which in turn I love to please by getting feedback and improving. I'm so grateful for those who have been early adopters and given incredible feedback that has for most part been integrated into the app, and the services that Nostria provide.

Last two years I've worked exclusively on open-source, mostly by burning my own savings. First building Ariton, and now building Nostria.

Most of you might not know this, but I founded liberstad (nprofile…6hgp), a free city in Norway, together with my friend John. I'm also active in Montelibero (nprofile…5v05), which is similar free city project in Montenegro. That is where my true passion lays, yet I have not been able to do as much as I really wanted to. My goal is that Nostria will be an important tool for all free cities, because these places is where something like Nostr and Nostria is truly needed. We're building new societies where government services must be replaced with voluntary solutions.

Very few people can predict what the future holds. I have made many predictions in my life and many of those have come true, yet with AI, the consequences and changes is very hard to see. Even when you know what is coming, most people will ignore it because the realization of the potential consequences is hard to bear.

I took this photo today, such incredible beauty just around the corner, yet as the nerd I am, I don't get out enough. It's because I'm caught in this race to have success, to create something that matters more than the electricity cost of executing an AI model.

I don't think I can participate much more in this race against the machine.

My CV was impressive, my experience in the field of software engineering is very deep and broad, yet all of that is worth much less today. 28 years of professional experience, combined with years of computer skills, programming and graphics design before that as a young kid, reduce to the cost of electricity and accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

I hope I have brought some true innovation to Nostr, there is a lot of true innovation within Nostria, many unique experiences to be had by those who dare to venture deep into it.

There will be plenty (spammers, stalkers, attackers, bots) who will send 21 sats for friend requests and the advertisements will be in the profile names and profile pictures. Also will be a lot of fakes, attempting to infiltrate friends lists. Many will succeed. Many will loose their private keys to scammers. Those people will "call the support center". Did you know that a large part of Facebooks ad revenue is from scammers?

Mitigating these things costs a lot of money.

Nobody is willing to pay the actual cost of the services they use. Everything is subsidized by VC money or ads.

Exactly what you want has already been attempted, "Lotus" it was called. The only difference was that you could set the cost of your inbox ourself, which would be better than a fixed 21 sats. The concept is that if you are attractive for some reason and people want your attention, they will pay more. You can also make it 1 million sats, but you "pay it forward" or "pay it back", depending on the scheme.

So your family already knows you, so they don't have a problem sending 1 million sats in a friend request to you, they know they will get it back.

This exact concept has already been done in traditional social media apps, I don't believe it had any long term success.

You could get response from people who you found interesting, people who you normally would never be able to get access to. I wrote a lot about this in a blog years ago. It is the primary difference between X and Facebook.

This is also why Nostr became popular, developers could build code that published events without anyone needing to accept them first. Nostr would never be where it is today, without this.

NIP-42 (Auth) came almost a year after the protocol was first announced by fiatjaf (nprofile…cy6q). NIP-70 (Protected Events) just two years ago. NIP-70 is just a tiny little hack to reduce spreading events to the major relays, it doesn't add any real privacy or protection. Anyone with access to that relay can in a few minutes publish everything to the public. As as you mention, it's not really possible to do private on Nostr and if people want that, they should use something else. Implementing a new protocol based upon Nostr identities for this purpose, can be a very good idea and is fully possible to do.

This can be solved on the client and that's the only place it should be solved. Attempting to solve this on relays is going down the wrong path, it's attempting to use bad tools to achieve a goal.

Primal still lists all media that users have ever uploaded, even if they uploaded anything by mistake and never went back and deleted it.

I'm in a similar situation, had to quit my job due to moving. Did apply to a few jobs, never went anywhere. I have been telling friends that they should do what they can to keep their jobs now (as software developers). Don't even consider changing jobs at the moment, just hold on as long as possible because it will get bad.

The worth of a software developer is the electricity cost of running AI. A lot of other professions will down the line suffer, but my industry will be hit hard.
