I’d much rather watch the dawn approach than the dusk recede.
Muppets Most Wanted is one of those movies where the B plot is better than the A plot. Not that the A plot is weak—these two just steal the show.

@npub1pm5…xe07 What are the first steps someone should take to start reclaiming their digital identity/privacy?
Most carriers have free features that will help prevent SIM swap attacks, or at least increase the friction. They’re opt-in but really should be enabled by default. You can also use a carrier like Cloaked Wireless, where their support humans don’t have the technological ability to do a SIM swap—only you can do that.
If your SMS is compromised, they can usually reset your password trivially.
It’s open-source hardware. I’ll be surprised/disappointed if it’s not.

How does one qualify for this tour?
What email client do you use? It’s wonderfully distraction-free.
#Fountain 1.3.1 won't install from @nprofile…hspy. I assume this is just a bad hash and not a bad app? https://image.nostr.build/9b6c8d01e496b1e6b346d38e2876cab5e047023f291b5a3a0fb96bc3cbaac980.jpg
I came to the comments to see what client that is.
Time away to rest, relax, and renew is essential. Not letting that slip away when you get back is the tricky part.
I love the hats! Where did you get them?
It’s fun, making the world a little more connected.
“It takes 25 minutes for you to get back up to speed after an interruption.” I’ve heard that statistic for years and have been sharing it with coaching clients for just as long.
I finally read the original study. It’s short—just four pages. That 25 minutes is an interesting stat. It’s not about how long it takes you to get back “in the zone” you were in before the interruption.
It’s how long it takes you to calm down and destress after the interruption.

Don't wait until you understand everything before you do anything.
Experience is a great teacher, especially when it's imperfect.
But you could store 10-20x the movies if you pre-transcode them.
As long as I can’t tell the difference (which takes some trial and error sometimes) I’d rather fit more movies onto the server.
Got Amethyst installed. Now to see if it lives up to the hype. ;)
Are you still doing uncompressed? Because that’s a lot of bits.
Clean, minimal aesthetic. I have mixed feelings about grayscale UIs: they reduce distractions, but they reduce differentiation, too.

First functional hiccup: @Signal doesn’t let you link another phone, like you can an iPad or Mac.
I was wanting to use Signal as my go-to messaging app on this thing, too.
But I may need sleep, too.
So far, I’ve only had to google one thing that wasn’t in the GrapheneOS install instructions:
How to restart an Android phone.
Sometimes, it’s the simple things.
Making the world a better place takes a low time preference.

I read this as “Inflation is the sincerest form of fiattery.”
It’s not wrong.

Qwerty is a fiat layout. Customize your keyboard to suit you for low-time-preference typing.

If you want to learn to touch-type, learn to code. Programmers use the full keyboard, not just the letters.
It’s not that I want to get up at 5:00, but by the time it’s 7:00, I like having accomplished for the day everything that getting up at 5:00 lets me accomplish.
Probably. Otherwise, that’s a lot of capital they’re pledging.
Nerds With Capes. AKA the superheroes who make FOSS possible.
Finished this recently. Really enjoyed it. If only I could have paid for it in Bitcoin…

Most forms of multitasking don’t work. Our brains can only focus on one thing at a time.
Combining a physical activity with a mental activity is your best bet, like ironing while watching an episode of CHiPs (1977).

I had lots of data entry scheduled for this evening. I estimated it would take a good hour or two.
Lots of it involved reformatting dates and converting currency. I started by writing a couple of Keyboard Maestro macros to rewrite the pasteboard then type out the result. ChatGPT had the macros done in no time.
Copy a value from the web site, type a few characters, done. Copy, type, repeat.
Took about 20 minutes. Way faster. Much easier. No mistakes.
This is what low time preference looks like.
Growth happens in the crucible, not on the couch.
Stop using do-not-reply addresses (text and email) to contact your customers. Set it up so that replies go at least to your customer service team. If your message is important enough to request your customer’s attention, they are important enough for you to hear from them.
So many businesses get this wrong, even really good ones. If communication isn’t two-way, you’re sending an unfortunate message about how important your customers really are to you.
Email addresses, SMS short codes, even automated phone calls can be configured so the customer just needs to reply. “This address is unmonitored” is little more than business jargon saying “we don’t want your problems, just your money”.
GM!
What are you doing today that’s worth getting out of your nice, warm bed for?
Started brewing a Roon deck last night. Now comes the hard part. I got it down to 132 today… #mtg

Where does the 6.15 figure come from?
I was thinking about this today. Starting your vacation after you work on Friday, it takes a few days to feel like you’re on vacation.
Start by taking Friday off, and it still takes a day or two to kick in.
Start by taking Thursday and Friday off, and it hits you pretty quickly.
This is all assuming a zero-amusement-park baseline, of course.
Nope. You take the days off of school when you get them.
But your funds are safe this way!
@npub1zk6…l6ef has skills and is super helpful! Glad he got you sorted out!
What you do before you leave on vacation determines how well you can disconnect from work and how much chaos you’ll return to.

Actually, poking things with a stick describes my job a lot of days, too.
I picked up a fancy ergonomic keyboard to make typing (which I do all day) more comfortable.
I have to remind myself that the point was greater comfort, not greater speed.
Progress is not steadily forward. Sometimes we have to take a step backward before we can move forward. Sometimes that step backward is permanent because it’s the price we pay to move forward somewhere else.
