The card works like a normal Visa debit card: users convert their Bitcoin into CAD before making a purchase, while merchants continue operating entirely within the traditional fiat payment system.<br/><br/>What this demonstrates is that there is already significant consumer demand to spend Bitcoin. Right now, people are converting BTC into CAD because most merchants do not accept Bitcoin directly.<br/><br/>This is where companies like Block showed the right direction. What Shakepay and similar companies need to do is integrate Bitcoin payments directly into merchants POS systems, while automatically converting the Bitcoin into CAD behind the scenes.
