Not what I'm seeing. Indeed I was surprised this week how good DeepSeek v4 seems to be in cleaning up. Working on an older handwritten codebase right now and the refactorings also removed a bunch of code.

Still works well for me: Plan and build initial versions/milestones with potent models (e.g. GLM), then switch to cost-efficient ones for fine-grained tasks and executing. In that category DeepSeek v4 Flash works suprisingly good for it being so cheap.

I'd understand the disappointment and anger on his side, yet I think simply leaving without at least clarifying some more things wouldn't be good. I don't have a problem with them recommending or even shilling the Coldcard, but with the investment relationship and unanswered questions like the potential knowledge about vulnerabilities, I think the case deserves further explanation on Matt's and Marty's end.

Inwiefern das anschließend gefiltert wird weiß ich nicht, dennoch lässt sich ein gewisses Stimmungsbild ablesen und ich persönlich hätte nicht gedacht, dass das Mitzeichner-Ziel wohl schon am zweiten Tag geknackt werden wird.

Appreciate the honest words and reflections on this. This is a total desaster and the arrogance and negligance that led up to it are unrivaled. The space has a lot to learn from this. Onwards.
Crazy indeed, but tbh the circulating theory of an inside job doesn't really make sense to me and seems overblown. I dunno, but...
They'd have accepted the risk for this to come up via external review and vulnerability reports before they could harvest a substantial amount. This would have destroyed the companies reputation similar to what we see now. There's also a the risk for an attacker to grab the funds before they get to collect them. Both scenarios seem way more likely then CoinKite or an employee sitting and waiting for five years — especially as there where multiple reports of individual incidents over these years, each asking for further investigation.
I totally get why people are upset and wouldn't rule this out entirely, yet it seems far more unlikely to me. The more likely scenario imho is that they were too arrogant to look into the reports, giving the attacker the time to proceed slow and steady. Then, last week the attacker might have lost exclusivity on the insight and someone else joined the drain, forcing one of the hackers to go full blown.
