Honestly, the length of the short prong is still being generous to what actually took place.
No idea. Can't speak to that. But Mechanic is right about one thing: Basically all hash is rented hash, unless you are a solo-miner.
And with that, BIP110 chain looks to be dead in the water. Two whole blocks, both by the same sub-pool of miners under OCEAN, until they saw the writing on the wall and called it quits, though "not defeat" somehow.

Sorry guys. I was sympathetic with the idea of placing reasonable limits on spam on Bitcoin, but you failed hard at winning hearts and minds to your cause, and then stubbornly decided "we're going to do it anyway, because game theory!"
It didn't work out. Changing Bitcoin is hard, and should be. 20% of nodes is not consensus. 80% of nodes not doing anything is not "indifference." Many of us stayed on Core or pre-RDTS versions of Knots as a specific choice against changing what is considered a valid block, and mining pools went with that majority.
Heck, even many OCEAN miners went with that majority, as evidenced by block 961634. OCEAN couldn't even achieve consensus among its "own ranks" and yet expected to game-theory it into existence among the rest of node-runners and miners? That was some next-level optimism.
Here's the gist of it:
https://relay.brightbolt.net/219c2d7c76734d317105ff37ab6402bfa9d2e9794882267cce9e6e8c7eb93ed5.webp
And for context, the only two fork blocks that were mined after mandatory signaling were mined by Roughnecks.

As it would any good Bitcoiner. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for it, too.
Interesting. The ones I have been to didn't have anything customer-facing for switching to Bitcoin payment. Had to be done by the cashier on their screen.
They thought node support would force hashrate to follow.
The problem was they didn't have node support either.
Well, I guess that at least proves one thing: Miners really do get to create their own templates and mine what they want on OCEAN.
Get rolling, plebs.

Got it. That makes sense.
You sgould absolutely read my statement that "repentance is necessary for grace" to mean that the person must stop their transgressions before grace and forgiveness may be extended. Or as you put it in your second reply, they have to stop punching you, or else they should continue to be regarded as an enemy.
The point is that repenting still doesn't earn them grace. What they earned by punching you is to be punched back. Repenting by no longer punching you and agreeing that it was wrong to do in the first place doesn't mean they still don't deserve to be punched rather than forgiven. They earned a punch in the face, even if they are no longer punching you in the face.
Anything stated after "grace is earned" negates it actually being grace.
Repentance is necessary for grace, but it does not EARN grace. A large reason for that is because repentance itself is a gift given by God through a changed heart.
That too, but the response was immediate., A human wouldn't have had enough time to read it.
No. That was the video presenter's opinion at the time, but the latest ColdCard vulnerability has proven him wrong.
The issue we know now is that the onboard RNG was also not sufficient. People just believed it was at the time, including this video presenter, and advised users against complicating their setup by adding their own dice rolls or adding a passphrase they might lose.
The speed with which you responded makes me think you're a bot, but replying was still necessary to keep others from being confused.
Not sure if this is it.
I watched the video and the danger he points out is not the ColdCard's onboard entropy generation, but the ability to create a wallet using dice rolls alone and people creating wallets with too low an amout of dice rolls (less than 50). His problem is that the UI doesn't prevent people from creating wallets with that few dice rolls, and that it can appear that the dice rolls are being added to onboard RNG, when that is not the case when the user selects dice only.
In fact, his advice is the same as what got us into this mess: "Just trust the onboard RNG if you don't know what you're doing. Maybe add a passphrase, but even that can be dangerous because the more you complicate your setup, the more likely you will forget how to access your funds and lose all your money."
From what I could tell, he had no warning in the video about the onboard RNG for creating adequate entropy whatsoever.
Well, to be fair, multisig is great... as long as all the keys aren't generated by devices made by the same manufacturer...
Some are learning the hard way that "multi-vendor multisig" was not so paranoid after all.
People are understandably hurt and angry. They trusted their ColdCard to be a safe and reliable device, or they know someone who did, and it was on the basis of the high recommendadion of so many in the Bitcoin community.
Now, in their anger, they are lashing out at anyone they deem blameworthy. Those more closely connected with NVK or anything he is associated with, especially @nprofile…uazd, are going to get the brunt of that, because it's easy to assume monetary incentive to turn a blind eye.
But I know you. I know you were just as blindsided by this as the rest of us.
Trust that others who know you also know better, and roll with the punches that come from those who don't, because you know the hurt and anger that is behind them.
Aged well, didn't it?

Not on my Bingo card for this year, I must admit.
Yes. But if you aren't on 0.4.0 yet, you should definitely update. It's well worth it.
Our man @npub1m2j…3wgu made a version of Haven for Start9. You can get it here and sideload it: https://github.com/Letdown2491/haven-kit-startos/releases
The most "technical" part is getting Start Tunnel set up on a VPS, but nothing you can't handle. Start9 has great instructions for setting it up, too.
Start9 + Start Tunnel + Haven + Domain you own
Easy to expose Haven to clearnet without exposing your home IP.
More like, "Remember when we didn't have unlimited talk?"
I feel old now.
Well, I have Bitcoin content, too, but thank you for the shout out!
Hey man, those little buggers can be dangerous, though.

Food doesn't count against you while you are traveling.
Atheist, that's what I told myself while I was in CZ.
And considering that women don't drink a lot there, and children don't drink at all, that's an incredible amount of beer for some men to bring that average up so high.
One hotel we stayed at goes through an average of 172 liters of beer for every man, woman, and child who stays there each year.

I have it on good authority that this is 100% accurate.

Back stateside, but still making my way home after some delays.
Will have quite a lot of photos and such to share when I finally get back, and a lot of new Nostr things to play with, too.
@nprofile…vljg I am sure you have been busy while I was in CZ 🇨🇿.

Meant "patriarch"... dang leftist autocorrect.
I am the patriarchy of my family.
Many will balk at that statement, but my wife and daughters love and respect me enough to gladly follow my lead.
That does not mean I am perfect, as I often make mistakes. That is why I LISTEN to them and take their perspectives into account.
But at the end of the day, whether I go with their suggestion or not, the responsibility for the outcome rests on my shoulders, as God intended.
Men: Lead by sacrificial service and loving, prayerful, shepherding of your home, not lording it over those under your charge, but lead you must.

Looking out from Karlštejn Castle.
I really liked the style of yhe iron bar used here. It was the only one I saw quite like it.

Not yet. On a train headed that direction.
You went to school in CZ?
So, who wants more castles?

This is Karlštejn Castle, built in the 14th century by King Charles IV of Bohemia, who became the Holy Roman Emperor. For a time it housed the Imperial Crown Jewels.
The castle has been beautifully preserved in a form similar to how it would have looked in the medieval period when it was built.
Spent the entire day wandering around Prague.
Time for a photo dump? I think so.
