Talking about Monero is the only thing that drives traction on this protocol because everyone here has an opinion on it.
Not everyone has an opinion on Marine Biology, Nuclear Engineering, Ethical Dilemmas, Firearms, Automobiles, Spacecrafts, Magnets, Farming, War Strategy, Financial Markets, Supply Chain Management, handcraft, woodworking, sowing, etc.
Not saying that people should, or will, I don’t either but I would be interested to learn about that stuff from someone who talked about it.
But everyone here for the most part has a rudimentary understanding of what Bitcoin, and Monero are.
And obviously everyone on here knows what Nostr is.
Unfortunately, it kind of limits the conversation since too many of us are drastically diverse in our interests, beliefs, viewpoints, etc.
Even if we share similar moral/ethical principles, Nostr has a tough time building community because we’re too diverse.
I only try to invite my friends that I feel like would be open to it.
Clients don’t deliver the “this is for my friends and family vibe”.
It’s more of like an AOL, IRC, Skype vibe where you use it to talk to other people/strangers to connect about tech, freedom, etc.

Bitcoin was intended to be open source, and acknowledged that other coins would exist in some shape, manner, or form, as either what we call today layers, or drivechains, or presumably separate coins.
It’s plausible that if Satoshi is still around that he might be open to exploring different variations of his intended end goal.
In the Whitepaper he mentions Adam Back’s Hashcash which most likely indicates he knew that just as he made a variation of that work, that others at some point would also make variants of his work too.

It allows for more competition, innovation, and alteration directly.
A closed source project would have to be reverse engineered, & would take longer to improving alternatives.
Open source allows people to see everything unedited, and reduces barriers to modifications.
In theory if someone discovered a more efficient way it could make it cheaper but it doesn’t make it cheaper directly, it just makes the ability to make it cheaper more easier though.
