Rand Paul&#39;s longstanding efforts to have him prosecuted, adding that the senator&#39;s recent release of his private writings, in which Fauci mused about his fame and the origins of COVID, reinforced his decision. &#xA;&#xA;Despite Fauci&#39;s repeated invocation of the Fifth Amendment, Republican senators continued questioning him about NIH-funded research and the origins of COVID-19. &#xA;&#xA;During the hearing, Paul&#39;s staff also had Fauci&#39;s attorney, David Schertler, escorted from the room after he repeatedly attempted to interject and invoke Fauci&#39;s Fifth Amendment rights on his client&#39;s behalf.
