I mostly agree with you, except for the part where you say that if BIP110 fails, I’ll admit I was wrong and move on. I’m 100% convinced that a Bitcoin which is anything other than money is just another shitcoin. Bitcoin without the monetary maximalists is nothing more than a VC coin—centralized, regulated to hell, and effectively castrated. Those people defended the protocol against overwhelming odds for years. If five major entities now reject their direction, it tells me they’re answering to interests that don’t align with Bitcoin’s. I’m not going to break bread with people who don’t understand what Bitcoin was supposed to become and who allowed it to fail, whether through stupidity, conformity, or fiat-driven incentives. I made up my mind months ago that if this is how things turn out, then Bitcoin is a failed project. I don’t need Satoshi to come out of retirement to spell it out for me. In that scenario, I’d sell my coins at the next ATH. Yes, I still believe there will be one, although probably not one worth bragging about. I will never buy back into the “Bithereum” coins I sold to BlackRock and MicroStrategy. As for a potential hard fork, I’d certainly be open to the idea. I wouldn’t run a Bitcoin node anymore, but I would run something that aligns more closely with Bitcoin’s original ethos, no matter how small, cheap, or irrelevant it might appear to the outside world. Remember, just 15 years ago Bitcoin looked exactly the same to the outside world. That doesn’t mean a fork would have a high chance of succeeding, but Bitcoin’s own chances were always slim too. Either way, I still hope the miners come to their senses by Saturday and choose the path of least resistance. I’d much rather see that outcome. This is their last chance to be part of something bigger than their short-term financial interests. Until then, we’re still allies. Come Monday, we may become enemies.
