PLEASE qualify that statement, I feel like I'm going crazy. You aren't using domain fronting or other crazy black magic techniques, so I actually have to CONTROL the server in question. If I have to control the server then why the fuck would I EVER use Pubkey??? Sounds like it's just microblogging with all the cost and difficulty of regular blogging. You realize that Twitter and Bluesky and ActivityPub and Nostr are all free and all have essentially 100% uptime, right? Do you realize that self-hosting and using a VPS are both HUGE commitments just to join a platform, right? You realize that most platforms don't require EITHER of those, right? Shit, I could also create a single-user ActivityPub instance if I wanted to. But I DON'T want to. That's why I'm using a MICRO-blogging platform. Please tell me you have a solution for the 99% of people who don't want to own or rent their own server. Please tell me there's some way to get someone else to host to host my content for me like literally every other microblogging platform allows.
