We got to the point where the Bitcoin community cannot widely agree on what Bitcoin is — is it money, is it arbitrary data storage, is it digital gold, a combination, something else. Contrary to popular belief, Bitcoin is not "inevitable" and "invincible", it's extremely fragile. Bitcoin’s survival and adoption depend on whether its most committed users can detect, coordinate, and counter inevitable policy, market, and social attacks. This of course doesn't work when Bitcoin's most committed users can't agree on what Bitcoin is. As I've said many times - I am not particularly bullish on any community, but I'd be more bullish on a community that has a single goal and some courage than a community that is pulling in ten different directions. So effectively, we have a pride of lions, but half of them got convinced that they are gorillas, switched to a vegetarian diet and died.
