"Nostr is, plausibly, the most adversarial social landscape that exists [...] There is no global authority; any relay can admit anyone; an actor filtered off one relay reappears on the next. In institutional terms the open network runs close to what [is called] *default conditions* — the institution-free baseline in which anyone may act and anyone may keep whatever they can obtain and defend.
The empirical fact is that the commons holds. It coheres, it sustains discourse, and the people who have seen the worst of it stay. One question therefore organizes everything that follows: *how is there quality discourse at all?*"
