The affair and her murder are detailed in the last half of the book. The affair is why I pick up the book, and I started with that chapter. I, then, read about the murder. Meyer had been married to a high-level CIA operative, and there are questions about the murder, which happened just a year after JFK was assassinated.
Then I read the beginning of the book. And I was stunned. This book was written in 1997, long before Q-Anon and Trump, and it detailed Meyer's the political transformation of her father and her husband. Both men were pacifists, and both men became disenchanted with the Democratic party and shifted towards more extreme conservative positions to "save" the country. Her father embraced the America First movement to keep America out of WW2, and her husband's work with the CIA supposedly infiltrating and funding various groups, including the modern art movement.
