Spot, a border collie, was present for the arrival of almost every crossing of the MV Glenachulish, which travels between Glenelg and Kylerhea on the Isle of Skye.
The dog, who greeted visitors and assisted with mooring ropes, was the most popular member of the crew of the last manually operated turntable operating anywhere in the world.
Spot was the grandson of Nak, the original ferry dog, who worked on the route for more than ten years, pulling in ropes and alerting passengers to the presence of seals in nearby waters.
Nak died, aged 15, in 2023, prompting tributes from around the globe.
Jo Crawford, general manager of the Isle of Skye Ferry Community Interest Company, which operates the seasonal ferry, said passengers had been spellbound by Spot, claiming the Collie had become a tourist attraction in his own right.
