I once thought would try them, but I couldn't demonstrate to
him that I could get them in and out unaided so was not allowed
to have them. This was in my 20s, I thought might like these
disposable ones to use now and then. Glad I didn't though, as
heard so many horror stories from people, and that was not
down to carelessness etc in use either, no thanks. I wished
I had been able to afford the laser surgery back in the day,

Sometimes the urge to ditch is understandable. Though it feels like a betrayal, I recently declined the opportunity to own a huge tapestry of a waterborne Newfoundland dog holding a lifeless drowning girl in its mouth, embroidered by my great-great-grandmother and left to me by my grandmother. The family mementos I keep close by me are less alarming in the middle of the night: a sewing box, though I don’t really sew; some nested tables; a silver napkin ring with the name of some earlier Kathleen etched upon it; a tea set left by an aunt; a pot stand made by my grandfather. There is also a Huntley and Palmers biscuit tin from the Forties, with a handwritten note taped to it in familiar script: “Handle with Care. Not wanted on Voyage.” In future, I will face more difficult choices as larger numbers of objects potentially head my way: further tea sets, each the pride of a female forebear who carefully saved up for it; “best” crockery; a writing desk; a wardrobe and matching dressing table; shelves of clothbound books.
In years to come, perhaps people will face similar dilemmas: should they keep the matcha whisk and the yoga pillow in memory of granny, or toss? Do these antique hair straighteners spark joy? But as these examples suggest, it is hard to imagine which items present generations will pass on to subsequent ones. On 30th July 2026, His Honour Judge James Tayler decided that there were reasonable grounds for bringing 13 of the GOA, ordering that these should proceed to a full hearing. His Honour Judge Tayler considered that there were no reasonable grounds for bringing one of the GOA, GOA 13.
"Mrs Peggie has now instructed her legal team to challenge His Honour Judge Tayler's decision to reject GOA 13 and to request a Rule 3 (10) hearing. The Rule 3 (10) hearing is expected to take place before the full hearing next year." The 14 grounds are published below, and GOA 13 relates to the "appearance of bias and/or failure properly to discharge the judicial function". No matter the outcome of this challenge, the full appeal is set to go ahead in the first half of 2027.

“Rape investigation teams” aren’t as much of a pointless sticking plaster if you also do things which are targeted to eliminate rape as a crime.
1. Keep rapists in jail when they’ve been convicted and for the full sentence. It’s one of the most heinous crimes designed to terrorise an entire female population and should be seen as such.
2. Increase CPS referrals and convictions when women report rape, educate juries and instruct judges to ensure conviction rates rise.
3. Don’t allow more rapists into the country which could be prevented and deport all rape risks immediately - I.e any man arriving illegally because he’s already a criminal.
4. Allow men to feel the full consequences of raping women with sufficient sentences for British nationals and immediate deportation for those who are not British nationals.

Someone threatened to put a bullet in my head last weekend. My offence? Questioning whether a local Pride event was suitable for children. At Medway Pride in north Kent, I saw photographs of men in leather fetish gear, a placard reading ‘Trans rights or I bite’, and a young child posing beside an inflatable shark carrying a Progress Pride flag. Medway Pride looked relatively tame compared with some. I’ve seen photographs from Pride events of adults wearing puppy-play masks, collars, chains and harnesses. It’s not uncommon to see stalls selling sex toys. Or hear of sex acts being performed in public.
Over the past few years, a number of people with organisational links to Pride groups have been convicted of, have pleaded guilty to or have been charged with serious child-sex offences. The most notorious was Stephen Ireland, co-founder of Pride in Surrey, jailed for 24 years for raping a 12-year-old boy and other serious offences. He was no fringe figure: he was reportedly described by a former chief constable as ‘a friend of Surrey Police’ and accompanied officers into schools for Pride engagement work. But even without those cases, surely it’s clear to anyone with eyes that Pride is no longer simply about acceptance of gay and bisexual people. It now also encompasses gender identities and the wider QTIA+ umbrella, which is a different set of ideas altogether. And once Pride becomes a vehicle not just for gay rights but for broader ideological and sexual subcultures, you get a blurring of boundaries. This is how you end up with men in fetish gear, on leashes and wearing gimp masks, marching through high streets on a Saturday afternoon alongside the cashiers from Tesco or nurses from the local hospital. But if you object to men in fetish gear hanging around your kids, you’ll be accused of hatred or bigotry – rather than seen as an adult concerned about child safeguarding.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Justice, one in five Muslim prisoners in England and Wales are now white, compared with around 6% of Muslims as a whole. At first glance, that number may look relatively benign: men finding faith and perhaps a sense of purpose behind bars. But the truth is much darker. During my 16 years in prison, I saw Islamist groups offer frightened and susceptible prisoners protection, status and belonging — sometimes backed by intimidation — in exchange for conversion. And as the number of Muslim people in British prisons grows, accounting for nearly a fifth of all prisoners, vulnerable people on hostile wings increasingly find themselves joining strong groups not as a theological decision but rather as a survival strategy.
But why is the dangerous end of conversion so hard to stop? Partly because the boundary between legitimate faith and extremist recruitment is extremely difficult to police. Two Muslim prisoners discussing the Quran in a cell may simply be exercising their religion. Another conversation could involve a committed Islamist teaching a new convert that Western values are the enemy. But an officer cannot simply interrupt every religious exchange to assess its intent.
Such uncertainty is also compounded by institutional timidity. Staff know that intervention can produce complaints of racism or Islamophobia. Ian Acheson’s 2016 review found that cultural sensitivity was inhibiting “the effective confrontation of extremist views” among Muslim prisoners. Add overcrowding, inexperienced officers and weakened authority on the landings, and the space available for informal prisoner power grows. We already know where this can lead. Baz Hockton entered prison as a violent offender, converted to Islam in custody and was subsequently radicalized. In 2020, alongside convicted terrorist Brusthom Ziamani, he attempted to murder a prison officer at HMP Whitemoor while wearing a fake suicide belt.

Police in Sydney are investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl in a suspected case of choking during sex, according to local media reports. On Sunday about 17:45 local time, emergency services were called to a home in Elanora Heights in Sydney's Northern Beaches where the girl was found unconscious.
Police confirmed she was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition but died on Tuesday night. It is understood she passed out after being choked during sex. Experts say sexual strangulation has become more prevalent among young people in Australia despite the impacts including headaches, memory loss, brain damage and in rare cases, death.
Police have not disclosed how the girl died or what her injuries were but police sources have told several local news outlets - including the national broadcaster ABC and the Sydney Morning Herald - that she was believed to have been choked during sex.
Sexual consent advocate Chanel Contos said the girl's death was "likely preventable" and that pornography companies "have blood on their hands".

One man suffered 'a potentially serious injury', though it is not considered life-threatening or life-changing, Devon and Cornwall Police said. Sinjar Zurel, 27, and Seyin Zurel, 24, both from the Malpas area of Truro, have been charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Sinjar Zurel has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.

I have to say, I am of two minds myself, this is not PPP either.

A recent video showed Marc Screeton, from Manchester, being heckled as he bypassed the line, saying: "Imagine queuing on a mountain? No chance."
But others have said queuing is necessary for safety reasons.

About 200 tonnes of asbestos that was dumped illegally in four lorry trailers has been moved to a specialist disposal centre, a council said.
The hazardous waste was found at various locations along the A10 and A120, which connects Puckeridge, Hertfordshire, and Harwich, Essex.
Hertfordshire County Council said it was one of the most serious fly-tipping incidents it has had to deal with and the clean-up has cost up to £200,000.
Stephen Giles-Medhurst, a Liberal Democrat councillor and executive member for highways at the authority, said: "This is nothing but a criminal activity that has cost taxpayers heavily as we not only had to fund the clean-up but the disposal of this waste."
There are strict regulations around the removal of asbestos and its disposal.
The council added the "dangerous" shredded material had to be removed from the trailers by hand by specialist contractors in protective suits, and then decontaminated.
