I get that the 24 place sample changer on this new instrument was probably much cheaper than the giant full robot types, but they really should have considered springing for one. Though since there was basically no automation here prior to this (I know, shocking, I've used automation at most facilities since about half way through grad school, and my undergrad even had some early ones, though I didn't use them regularly) they probably took a survey and too few people realized how much better their lives would be with it to say "yes, I'd use it!" and got the number of users way too low.
