That's what most American churches are like now, strip mall churches where they're operating out of some business space they're leasing and then have some other kinda hustle going on like housing for felons fresh out of prison. It's become another product of consumerism where people go because they have one foot in the grave and are terrified of not knowing what comes next so they over exert themselves with it trying to "get right with God" before they die just in case this heaven shit is real, or it's a lot of ex drug addicts and alcoholics getting into it out of despair because they want to be forgiven for all the shit they feel bad about, or they're putting on some front to feed their egos making it all about them and how virtuous they are. I don't think there's a lot of actual Christians in this country anymore. There's some that I've come across that are great people. But it's turned into something that has Jesus rolling in his grave
