Consider whether many psychological problems are really masking deeper philosophical and spiritual issues. Western culture, in largely discarding the quest for deeper understanding and wisdom beyond the individual, has fostered the dominance of an ego-centric perspective. Without a strong philosophical and spiritual sense, the isolated “I” struggles to make sense of all the perceived threats to its existence and sense of meaning and place in an alienated society.
