A blockchain investigator has reported an alleged attempt by a suspected North Korean recruiter to purchase the use of their Upwork account for $300 per month. The recruiter reportedly sought to use a US citizen's Upwork profile with local devices, citing Upwork's IP monitoring policies. Payment was offered in USD or cryptocurrency, with a proposed 15% revenue share thereafter. The investigator stated that the individual then directed them to install remote control software, but the connection was soon terminated, the chat logs cleared, and the account blocked. The investigator has published relevant Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and is accepting donations for Ethereum Security QF.
