Discovery happens through experimentation.
Nature creates endless variations, and reality tests them. Some work, some fail. Some survive, grow, and reproduce; others disappear. Through this endless process of trial and error, the universe gradually discovers what works.
We are part of the same process.
When we are born, we don't arrive as blank pages. Our genes give us certain qualities, tendencies, abilities, and limitations. But our potential is not something we can understand immediately. We have to discover it by interacting with the world.
Imagine a car.
A car may be designed for a particular purpose. You can use it in many different ways, but some uses will fit its design much better than others. If you force it into a role it wasn't suited for, it may still function, but it won't perform at its potential.
Human beings are similar.
We often try to decide in advance what our lives should look like. We choose one path, one profession, one environment, one identity — and then spend years trying to make ourselves fit into it.
But perhaps this is backwards.
Instead of deciding who we are supposed to be, we can explore.
Try different things. Meet different people. Enter different environments. Build things. Fail. Start again. Follow curiosity. Pay attention to what makes us stronger, more capable, and more alive.
Every experience becomes an experiment.
Some things will resonate with us. We will discover that we are unusually good at certain things, that certain environments bring out our abilities, and that certain people and challenges make us grow.
Other things will simply not work. We will fail, lose interest, become exhausted, or discover that we are not suited for them.
That's not failure. That's information.
The universe is constantly filtering possibilities through reality. We can participate in that process consciously by exposing ourselves to more possibilities instead of trying to control the outcome from the beginning.
Perhaps this is what destiny really is.
Not a predetermined path waiting for us somewhere in the future, but the path that emerges when we repeatedly interact with reality and allow reality to show us where we fit.
If we stop limiting ourselves and explore openly, life will keep presenting us with possibilities. Some doors will close. Others will open. Some experiences will strengthen us. Others will teach us what to avoid.
Little by little, we tune ourselves to the environments where our capabilities can be used most effectively.
And eventually, we discover something that was there from the beginning: our potential.
Purpose is not necessarily something we invent.
Perhaps it is something we discover.
And freedom is not necessarily doing whatever we want.
Perhaps freedom is becoming what we are capable of becoming.
