Nuclear energy doesn't meet the basic criteria inherent in the word "renewable", because when it uses its input, that input gets used up, turning it into waste.

It is, however, low carbon, and low emission (at time of energy production). Some people think that makes it "green" and they don't understand that green and renewable are not synonyms.
