I once had a neighbour from York, who recommended chips with mushy peas — a wholly unappetizing name to a Dutchman like me — with such mouth-watering enthousiasm that it has been on my to-eat list for ages. Yet of all the times I find myself in the UK, I could never find it. It's still on the bucket list.
