Online education is definitely a big part of it. And probably the easiest viable method for approaching this + for making it accessible for pretty much the whole globe. However, personally I'm pretty sick and tired of being tied to my computer and/or phone all the time, plus there's a whole different dimension of learning and interaction going on if people are physically in the same space as well.

On a slightly off-topic note, Saylor's been getting a lot of flak recently (some of it for good reasons), but things like the Saylor Academy are really a great, big step in the right direction (although I've never taken a course there and can't vouch for the quality of the materials there)
