fwiw, that format has been successful for me 🤷♂️ (both in acceptance and attendance).
As someone who is often too on program committees, I get it though. I think there is a PoV difference between the submitter and reviewer. The submitter often has no idea of the experience of the program committee and that this format is pretty tired.
