There are some good heirloom tomato varieties (which are not hybrids and are not genetically modified). They usually will not pump out as many fruit, but the ones they do produce have much better flavor, and are probably healthier, too.
In grocery stores in the USA, it is rare to find a tomato for sale that is worth eating. I would rather have heirlooms.
If you save heirloom tomato seed, the next generation should be very similar to the original.
