I suppose you mean your children. Idk where you live but in Poland there's disproportion between police informing you about death or you informing them and when banks learn about death.
So if you're attorney-in-fact / agent / proxy you can withdraw money in 48h if I remember correctly. That's what people in my family do. Its basically to have access to money immediately so you can cover some funeral costs or don't have to wait for cash.
