I know you’re quoting the Lemkin Institute statement. If things continue as they are with this administration directing U.S. politics and policy, there is a case to say “the United States is squarely…”. But the tide turned against those who militated against Gay Rights. The balance totters. But over time it leans to embracing everyone’s humanity and right to their authentic life. Those are American ideals.
Don’t lose hope.
